The SKF 32036 X tapered roller bearing, measuring 180 × 280 × 64 mm, offers high load-carrying capacity for combined radial and axial loads in mechanical engineering.
The 32036 X tapered roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing in the SKF Explorer performance class. It accommodates high radial and unilateral axial forces simultaneously. The tapered raceways of the inner and outer rings ensure that the tapered rollers roll with high precision. The bearing is supplied as a complete unit comprising an inner ring assembly with a roller cage and a separate outer ring, allowing both rings to be fitted independently.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel prefer to use this bearing design in heavy-duty gearboxes and in general heavy machinery construction for bearing arrangements subjected to combined loads. As a single single-row tapered roller bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, it is usually fitted in pairs in an X or O arrangement with a second bearing mounted in the opposite direction. This design ensures rigid support for shafts that require precise guidance under high operating loads.
This bearing features a robust sheet steel cage, which maintains an even spacing between the rollers and aids targeted lubricant distribution. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The SKF Explorer specification is characterised by improved surface finishes and contact geometries on the rollers and raceways. Together with the standard tolerance class P0/PN (equivalent to ABEC 1), this provides a well-balanced basis for demanding continuous loads.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 180 mm, an external diameter of 280 mm and a total width of 64 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable a precise fit when installed on suitable shafts and in housing bores in heavy machinery and plant engineering.
A single-row tapered roller bearing of this design can accommodate high radial loads as well as axial loads in one direction. To secure the shaft axially at both ends, the design requires a second tapered roller bearing mounted in a mirror-image configuration, against which this bearing is positioned during assembly.
P0 or PN denotes the standard tolerance in accordance with international standards and corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. This tolerance class defines the permissible deviations in dimensions, form and running accuracy for standard industrial applications and ensures the required fitting accuracy under normal installation conditions.
The permissible operating range for the bearing is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within this temperature range, the components retain their dimensional stability. When selecting a bearing, ensure that the lubricant used is suitable for the actual operating temperature range.
This version features a sheet steel cage. This type of cage is characterised by its dimensional stability and mechanical strength. It reliably guides the rollers along the raceway and is suitable for standard mineral oil- or synthetic-based lubricants.
Yes, the tapered roller bearing is designed to be dismantled. The inner ring, together with the roller cage, forms a single unit, whilst the outer ring can be slid on separately. This separate design facilitates installation as well as maintenance and inspection work at the bearing location.
