The SKF 32207 tapered roller bearing, measuring 35 × 72 × 24.25 mm, can accommodate high combined radial and axial loads in one direction.
The 32207 tapered roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing from SKF in the Explorer series. With a bore of 35 mm, an outer diameter of 72 mm and a width of 24.25 mm, this bearing is used in demanding mechanical designs. The truncated conical rollers run between the conical raceways of the inner and outer rings. As a result, the design simultaneously transmits high radial forces and axial loads from a single direction whilst ensuring even load distribution.
This single-row roller bearing is primarily used in bearing arrangements where combined loads occur. Thanks to SKF’s Explorer manufacturing process, the bearing features optimised surfaces and modified line contact between the rollers and raceway. As a single tapered roller bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, it is usually mounted in opposition to a second bearing during operation.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements precisely and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees. Tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1) represents the standard industrial benchmark for dimensional and radial runout accuracy. The 32207 tapered roller bearing is designed as a complete unit, comprising an inner ring with a roller cage and a separate outer ring. This separable design facilitates the separate installation of both bearing rings.
The bearing has an internal diameter (bore) of 35 mm, an external diameter of 72 mm and a total width of 24.25 mm. These metric key dimensions define the installation space required on the shaft and within the bearing housing.
The design is specifically engineered to accommodate high radial forces whilst simultaneously withstanding axial forces from a single direction. Due to the angular arrangement of the rollers, a radial load generates an internal axial force; for this reason, in practice, the component is usually combined with a mating bearing in a mirror-image configuration.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees. This range is supported by the thermal resistance of the bearing steel and the sheet steel cage. When selecting a lubricant, users should ensure that the grease or oil is suitable for the operating temperatures encountered.
These classes specify the standard precision for rolling bearings in industrial engineering. P0/PN and ABEC 1, respectively, define limit values for dimensional accuracy, concentricity and radial run-out. This level of precision is sufficient for the vast majority of industrial applications.
The outer ring can be completely separated from the assembly comprising the inner ring and roller set. This simplifies installation considerably, as both rings can be pressed onto the shaft or into the housing independently of one another. The desired operating clearance is then set.
SKF Explorer-class bearings feature improved internal geometries, optimised roller contact profiles and refined surfaces. These specific design features promote the formation of the lubricating film and contribute to smooth running and reduced friction under demanding operating conditions.
