The SKF 32048 X tapered roller bearing, with a 240 mm bore, offers high load-carrying capacity for combined radial and single-direction axial loads in industrial plant.
The SKF 32048 X single-row tapered roller bearing accommodates high radial forces and single-direction axial forces simultaneously. With key dimensions of 240 mm inner diameter, 360 mm outer diameter and 76 mm width, this large bearing is suitable for shaft support in mechanical engineering. A sheet steel cage guides the tapered rolling elements along the raceways of the inner and outer rings. As a complete tapered roller bearing, this design complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 for standardised industrial applications.
This large bearing is primarily used on shafts with a diameter of 240 mm where high radial loads are combined with axial forces acting in one direction. As single-row tapered roller bearings, by their very design, can only transmit axial forces from one direction, they are usually fitted in pairs facing each other in an X or O arrangement. The open design allows for a flexible choice of lubricant – grease or oil – precisely tailored to the machine’s requirements.
The integrated sheet steel cage maintains an even spacing between the tapered rollers and ensures smooth running under continuous operational loads. The thermal design of the roller bearing covers a temperature range from -30 to +120 degrees, making the bearing suitable for many industrial applications. As the outer ring and inner ring, together with the set of rollers, can be fitted separately, installation into the housing is simplified. The required bearing clearance is adjusted axially during assembly via the mating bearing.
This roller bearing has an inner diameter of 240 mm, an outer diameter of 360 mm and a total width of 76 mm. These dimensions mean that the component is classified as a large bearing for solid shaft guides. Before installation, check the available installation space in your machine housing and ensure that the shaft seat is dimensionally accurate.
This is a single-row, separable roller bearing in a standard design. It consists of an inner ring with a guided set of rollers and a separate outer ring. This split design facilitates the fitting of the individual rings onto the shaft and housing. The integrated sheet steel cage keeps the tapered rolling elements at a uniform distance apart and guides them along the raceways.
The bearing accommodates high radial forces and, at the same time, axial forces from one direction. Due to the inclined contact angle of the tapered rollers, the axial force component is supported by the guide flange of the inner ring. To accommodate axial forces from both directions, combine the component with a second tapered roller bearing in a mirror-symmetrical arrangement on the shaft.
The design is intended for operation within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Both the sheet steel cage and the heat-treated bearing components retain their dimensional stability within this range. Select a lubricant for use whose viscosity and specification are suited to the prevailing operating temperatures of your system.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN, which is also known internationally as ABEC 1. This standard tolerance meets the usual accuracy requirements in general mechanical engineering and industrial gearboxes. It enables cost-effective manufacture of the connecting parts whilst ensuring a precise fit for standardised rolling bearing applications.
Single-row tapered roller bearings do not have a factory-set bearing clearance. The operating clearance is only created during installation through axial alignment against a second bearing fitted in a mirror-image configuration. You can adjust the required preload or bearing clearance using spacer rings, shaft nuts or housing covers, in accordance with the design specifications of your system.
