The SKF 22219 E/C3 spherical roller bearing can accommodate high radial loads with a 95 mm bore, 170 mm outer diameter and 43 mm width.
The SKF 22219 E/C3 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. It automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection, as the barrel-shaped rollers can tilt on the spherical outer ring raceway. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel, the unit withstands mechanical stresses within a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. As an open bearing, it can be integrated directly into existing lubrication systems.
This self-aligning roller bearing is particularly suitable for heavy-duty applications involving high radial forces and simultaneous shaft misalignment. Typical applications include situations where elastic deflection or misalignment between bearing positions needs to be compensated for.
Thanks to the guided sheet steel cage, the rolling elements maintain their defined position even under dynamic operating conditions. If misalignments occur due to housing deflection or assembly inaccuracies, the spherical internal geometry compensates for these deviations without causing excessive edge pressure.
The C3 designation indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This increased internal clearance helps to prevent the bearing from becoming stressed if the inner ring expands more than the outer ring due to operating heat, or if tight fits reduce the radial clearance.
In addition, the component features a lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring, which facilitates a continuous supply of lubricant. In terms of dimensional accuracy, the model complies with class PN, whilst the running accuracy of class P5 ensures smooth rolling behaviour.
With a cylindrical bore of 95 mm, an external diameter of 170 mm and a width of 43 mm, the component can be fitted precisely into housings and shaft seats. Before assembly, it is advisable to check the mating dimensions against the shaft and the housing shoulder to ensure trouble-free operation.
The C3 bearing clearance offers greater radial clearance than the standard version. This is particularly advantageous in the event of temperature differences between the inner and outer rings or where there are tight fits on the shaft. The increased clearance reduces the risk of the rolling elements becoming jammed due to thermal expansion, thereby promoting smooth concentricity during operation.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees. The material, made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. Lubricants must be selected for use whose viscosity and thermal stability are suited to the respective operating temperature.
As this is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers, it requires an external lubrication system. The outer ring has a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes. Lubricant can be introduced directly from the outside between the two rows of rollers via these channels, which simplifies relubrication whilst the bearing is installed.
This spherical roller bearing combines dimensional accuracy in accordance with Class PN with increased running accuracy of Class P5. Whilst the mounting dimensions, such as the bore and outer diameter, comply with standard tolerances, the P5 running accuracy is characterised by lower run-out deviations. This promotes low-vibration rolling behaviour at demanding speeds.
Inside, a sheet steel cage guides the roller elements. This type of cage is characterised by its low weight and high dimensional stability. It withstands impact forces and radial accelerations whilst allowing unimpeded lubricant flow to the contact surfaces of the raceways.
