The SKF 24028 CC/W33 spherical roller bearing compensates for misalignment under heavy loads and measures 140 × 210 × 69 mm.
The SKF 24028 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing for industrial applications involving combined loads. The barrel rollers run on a common hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, which automatically compensates for shaft deflection and misalignment during operation. The bearing accommodates high radial loads as well as axial forces on both sides. Manufactured from 100Cr6 bearing steel, the Explorer version offers high load-carrying capacity in a compact design.
This bearing is primarily used in industrial mechanical engineering where angular misalignment or shaft deflection needs to be compensated for. It is designed for mounting positions subject to high radial forces and simultaneous axial loads. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rollers along the raceway even under dynamic loads. Design engineers use the 240 series primarily in applications where a shaft diameter of 140 mm needs to be supported within a confined radial installation space.
The W33 version features a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring, which facilitates the direct supply of lubricant into the interior of the bearing. Combined with the increased running accuracy to tolerance class P5, this supports low-vibration operation of the shaft. As this is an unsealed, open bearing, sealing is provided by the surrounding housing. The permissible operating temperature range is between -30 and +200 degrees Celsius.
The dimensions are 140 mm internal diameter, 210 mm external diameter and 69 mm width. These standardised key dimensions enable a precise fit when mounted on suitable shaft journals and in cylindrical housing bores.
The designation W33 indicates a lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring of the bearing. This design facilitates relubrication via the bearing housing, as the lubricant enters directly between the rows of rollers and is distributed evenly there.
Tolerance class P5 denotes a tighter running accuracy than the standard tolerance PN. This reduces concentricity errors during operation, minimises vibrations and is particularly suitable for systems that require precise guidance of the rotating shaft.
A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements along their raceways. Sheet steel cages are characterised by their strength combined with low weight and are designed to withstand dynamic loads in industrial applications.
The open pendulum roller bearing can be operated within a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel used helps to ensure that the components retain their dimensional stability even under thermal stress.
As the bearing is supplied in an open design without integrated sealing washers, you must seal the bearing housing against the surrounding machine casing. This protects the raceways from contamination and prevents the lubricant from leaking out.
