SKF 23244 CCK/C3W33 spherical roller bearing: An open, heavy-duty bearing with a tapered bore, C3 clearance and dimensions of 220 x 400 x 144 mm.
The SKF 23244 CCK/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing accommodates high radial loads as well as simultaneous axial forces. As a double-row roller bearing, its design automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. The open bearing, made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, is suitable for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. For industrial maintenance engineers and the mechanical engineering sector, the version with a sheet steel cage offers reliable support under demanding conditions.
Heavy-duty industrial gearboxes and bearing applications subject to high radial and combined forces are typical areas of use for this size. Thanks to the hollow spherical raceway in the outer ring, the roller pack automatically aligns itself in the event of shaft misalignment, thereby preventing edge stresses. The open system is designed for external lubrication. Grease or oil enters directly into the bearing interior between the two rows of rollers via the lubrication groove and the lubrication holes in the outer ring.
The designation CCK refers to a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. You mount this bearing directly onto tapered shaft journals or, using suitable mounting and withdrawal sleeves, onto cylindrical shafts. The increased C3 bearing clearance compensates for the expansion of the inner ring during axial pressing, as well as for temperature variations caused by operation. Manufactured to PN dimensional accuracy and P5 running accuracy, the bearing ensures precise concentricity.
The double-row SKF roller bearing is designed to withstand heavy loads and has main dimensions of 220 x 400 x 144 mm. This open-type bearing features a robust sheet-steel cage and automatically compensates for shaft misalignment. The designation W33 indicates an integrated lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring.
The bore is 220 mm, the outer diameter is 400 mm and the overall width is 144 mm. As it is manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. The mounting dimensions comply with the standardised specifications for this size.
The tapered bore allows for direct mounting on tapered shaft seats or the use of clamping and withdrawal sleeves on smooth shafts. During axial mounting, the inner ring expands, allowing you to precisely control the remaining operating clearance by reducing the radial clearance during assembly.
The C3 design offers greater radial clearance than the standard bearing clearance. As pressing onto tapered seats or sleeves stretches the inner ring, the bearing clearance is reduced during installation. The C3 classification helps to ensure that sufficient clearance remains even after the bearing has been securely fitted and under thermal load.
As an open type, the bearing requires an external lubricant supply via the housing. Thanks to the W33 feature, the outer ring has a circumferential groove and lubrication holes. This allows grease or lubricating oil to enter centrally between the two rows of rollers and evenly lubricate the running surfaces and rolling elements.
The dimensional accuracy complies with tolerance class PN (normal tolerance), meaning that the external diameter and width conform to common standard fits. Running accuracy, on the other hand, is designed to the tighter tolerance class P5. This results in reduced radial runout during operation and promotes low-vibration running of the shaft.
