The SKF 23140 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing features a 200 mm tapered bore and high running accuracy to P5 for heavy-duty industrial applications with misalignment.
The SKF 23140 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row, open roller bearing designed for mechanically demanding applications. Its symmetrical barrel rollers run on a common hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, enabling the bearing to automatically compensate for static misalignment or dynamic shaft deflection. Manufactured from case-hardened standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, this design combines a standard radial clearance with the reduced manufacturing tolerances of the SKF Explorer performance class for precise integration into machine designs.
The bearing design is primarily intended for heavy radial loads, but at the same time reliably accommodates axial forces acting in both directions. If dynamic deflections or misalignments occur between the shaft and housing during operation, the double-row roller bearing directly compensates for these misalignments without causing excessive edge pressures. Lubricant is fed directly into the bearing interior via the integrated lubrication groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring. This promotes even lubricant distribution and supports low-friction continuous operation.
The tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 allows for mounting on tapered shaft journals or for securing the bearing on cylindrical shafts using shrink sleeves and withdrawal sleeves. The defined axial displacement on the tapered seat allows the required operating radial clearance to be precisely adjusted during installation. The tolerance class, with dimensional accuracy PN and increased running accuracy P5, reduces radial runout deviations. A guided sheet steel cage separates the rolling elements and ensures uniform guidance of the roller sets, even at varying operating speeds.
This roller bearing has an inner diameter of 200 mm at the bore, an outer diameter of 340 mm and a total width of 112 mm. The inner profile is designed as a 1:12 taper. These standardised main dimensions enable precise fitting into standardised pedestal bearings or machine housings with the corresponding mounting width.
The suffix CC denotes the version with sheet steel cages. The letter K stands for the tapered bore with a 1:12 taper ratio for mounting on tapered shafts or clamping sleeves. The designation W33 indicates the integrated lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring, which facilitates the supply of lubricant.
The permissible temperature range extends from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. Thanks to the heat treatment of the standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, the microstructure remains dimensionally stable even at higher operating temperatures. When designing the bearing, always ensure that the selected lubricant and any external sealing elements meet the same temperature requirements.
As an open bearing, the 23140 CCK/W33 spherical roller bearing has no integrated sealing washers. This design allows free circulation of lubricant within the housing and facilitates the targeted replacement of grease or oil via the W33 circumferential groove. To protect against dirt and moisture, a suitable housing seal must be fitted at the installation site.
The dimensional accuracy PN complies with the standard limit dimensions for bore, outside diameter and width. The running accuracy in Class P5 involves reduced tolerances for the concentricity of the inner and outer rings. This contributes to smooth running and reduced vibrations in rotating shafts.
