The SKF 23036 CC/C3W33 spherical roller bearing, with a 180 mm bore, C3 clearance and W33 lubrication specification, provides reliable guidance under heavy radial loads.
The SKF 23036 CC/C3W33 double-row self-aligning roller bearing is designed for high radial loads and combined axial forces, and automatically compensates for misalignment between the shaft and housing. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel with a sheet steel cage, the open version is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees.
This self-aligning roller bearing is suitable for demanding applications involving high radial loads and shock loads. Thanks to the spherical outer ring raceway, the bearing flexibly adapts to misalignments between the shaft and the housing. This reduces the risk of localised edge stresses caused by shaft deflection or misalignment resulting from installation. The design has proven its worth in continuous operation under varying and constant load profiles in heavy machinery manufacturing.
The designation CC refers to window-type sheet steel cages and an optimised internal geometry without a fixed centre rib, which keeps friction to a minimum during operation. The W33 designation refers to a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring, through which lubricant can be precisely applied between the two rows of rollers. The increased clearance C3 compensates for thermal expansion at high operating temperatures, whilst the tolerance class with dimensional accuracy PN and improved running accuracy P5 ensures smooth concentricity.
The bearing has a bore of 180 mm, an outside diameter of 280 mm and a width of 74 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow it to be fitted into suitable housings and machine designs with a cylindrical shaft seat.
The suffix W33 denotes a circumferential groove with lubrication holes on the outer ring. This allows lubricant to flow directly from the outside between the two rows of rollers. This facilitates relubrication whilst the unit is in operation and helps to ensure even distribution of the lubricant.
C3 bearing clearance indicates greater radial clearance than in the standard version. This variant helps to prevent the rolling elements from seizing if temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings during operation, or if the fits on the shaft and housing cause the bearing rings to expand or contract.
This roller bearing combines standard dimensional accuracy (PN) at the mounting surfaces with enhanced running accuracy of class P5. As a result, the bearing has lower concentricity tolerances, which reduces vibrations and improves guiding accuracy.
As this product is designed without integrated seals, the design requires an external housing seal. Depending on the level of contamination and humidity in the environment, contact seals such as shaft seals or non-contact labyrinth seals protect the bearing from contamination.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees. The roller bearing steel construction and the sheet steel cage help to ensure that the bearing retains its dimensional stability even under thermal stress. The lubricant used is also a key factor in determining the actual operating limit.
