The SKF 22328 CCK/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing offers high load-carrying capacity with dimensions of 140x300x102 mm, a tapered bore and increased C3 clearance for demanding industrial applications.
The SKF 22328 CCK/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing can handle heavy radial loads as well as axial forces in both directions. Thanks to the spherical outer ring raceway, this open roller bearing automatically compensates for misalignment or shaft deflection. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel with a robust sheet steel cage, this design covers a wide temperature range from -30 to +200 degrees. Design engineers and maintenance personnel value this design when high loads and misalignments need to be safely accommodated during operation.
This self-aligning roller bearing primarily accommodates heavy radial loads as well as combined axial loads caused by shaft deflection. As the inner ring and roller set can move at an angle relative to the outer ring, this design helps to prevent excessive edge stresses in the event of misalignment. The integrated lubrication groove, together with the lubrication holes in the outer ring, facilitates targeted relubrication during operation and reliably supports scheduled maintenance cycles.
The designation CCK refers to a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on tapered shaft seats or using mounting and withdrawal sleeves. The slightly increased radial bearing clearance (C3) provides the necessary compensation, as the radial bearing clearance is reduced by the press-fit of the inner ring and thermal expansion may occur during operation. In addition, the increased running accuracy to tolerance class P5 ensures low-vibration, smooth running of the unit.
This double-row spherical roller bearing combines a tapered bore with a diameter of 140 mm, an outer diameter of 300 mm and a width of 102 mm. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, it dynamically compensates for angular misalignment. The design features a sheet steel cage, increased C3 bearing clearance and is designed for operating temperatures between –30 and +200 degrees.
The suffix C3 indicates a larger radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance between the rollers and the raceway is beneficial because the tight fit when mounted on a tapered seat reduces the bearing clearance. Furthermore, the C3 clearance counteracts any straining of the bearing caused by operational heating of the shaft and inner ring.
The bearing has the W33 feature, i.e. a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes directly in the outer ring. This allows lubricant to flow directly and centrally between the two rows of rollers. As this is an open bearing without integrated lip seals, grease or lubricating oil must be protected from contamination and moisture by an external housing seal.
The tapered bore, designated ‘K’, has a standard taper of 1:12. It allows for direct mounting on taper-ground shaft journals or, alternatively, on cylindrical shafts using mounting or withdrawal sleeves. When slid onto the taper, the inner ring expands in a controlled manner, allowing the remaining bearing clearance to be precisely adjusted.
In this SKF design, dimensional accuracy is to Class PN, whilst running accuracy corresponds to the tighter tolerances of Class P5. This combination means that the mounting dimensions comply with common standard specifications, whilst the higher running precision promotes uniform concentricity and low vibration under dynamic loads.
The bearing, made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel and featuring a sheet steel cage, is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. When designing the system, care must be taken to ensure that the selected lubricant and any external sealing elements of the housing are also suitable for the operating temperatures encountered in the respective application.
