The SKF 22324 CC/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing, with dimensions of 120 × 260 × 86 mm, C3 clearance and a W33 lubrication groove, provides reliable guidance under high radial loads.
As a double-row roller bearing, the SKF 22324 CC/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing accommodates very heavy radial and combined axial forces. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, this design automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. The open bearing is made from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6) and operates within a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. Fitted with a sheet steel cage, it is suitable for demanding industrial drives and heavy machinery applications.
This bearing is primarily used in demanding applications involving heavy radial loads and combined axial forces, where high loads act on shafts with a diameter of 120 mm. The barrel roller geometry compensates for misalignment between the inner and outer rings by allowing angular movement, without causing an excessive increase in friction. The open design, without an integrated seal, allows for direct integration into centralised oil circulation or grease lubrication systems during continuous operation.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance. This additional clearance accommodates thermal expansion at operating temperatures up to +200 degrees or tight fits without the bearing becoming stressed. The designation W33 indicates a lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring, which simplifies targeted relubrication within the housing. In addition, the running accuracy to tolerance class P5 with dimensional accuracy PN ensures smooth, low-vibration running of the rolling elements.
With a bore of 120 mm, an outer diameter of 260 mm and a width of 86 mm, this bearing can withstand high radial and combined axial loads. The CC version features sheet steel cages, whilst the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel is designed for use in a temperature range between –30 and +200 degrees.
The bearing clearance C3 is greater than the normal radial clearance. At high operating temperatures or with tight fits on the 120 mm shaft, the inner ring expands. The increased operating clearance helps to prevent the rolling elements from becoming jammed between the raceways. This ensures that the bearing continues to run smoothly even under thermal stress.
The suffix W33 denotes a lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring of the bearing. Lubricant enters directly from the outside through these openings and into the space between the two rows of rollers. This ensures even distribution of lubricant around the circumference and simplifies relubrication whilst the bearing is installed, via grease nipples on the bearing housing.
Whilst the dimensional accuracy of this bearing complies with the standard tolerance PN, its running accuracy is classified in the tighter P5 class. This means lower radial and axial runout deviations of the rotating rings. The improved runout reduces vibrations in the system and ensures smooth running.
Open roller bearings do not have integrated seals as standard. This design is intended for housing constructions with separate external sealing. Furthermore, the open design allows for direct lubricant circulation via external systems and enables the full temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees to be utilised without being limited by seal materials.
The bearing is fitted with a sheet steel cage. This guides the barrel rollers precisely and withstands thermal stresses across the full temperature range up to +200 degrees. Sheet steel cages combine low weight with high strength and are suitable for use with standard mineral and synthetic lubricants.
