The 22315 EK self-aligning roller bearing from SKF Rolling Bearings, with a 75 mm tapered bore and lubrication groove, offers high load-carrying capacity under shaft deflection.
The 22315 EK self-aligning roller bearing accommodates heavy radial and, at the same time, axial loads in both directions. Thanks to its self-aligning design, this bearing automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. The open design, made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), is rated for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. A guided sheet steel cage maintains an even spacing between the rollers and contributes to smooth running.
It is primarily used for heavy combined loads where shaft deflection or misalignment between the shaft and housing occurs. The symmetrical rollers freely adjust themselves on the hollow spherical raceway of the outer ring. Thanks to the integrated lubrication groove and the lubrication holes in the outer ring, lubricant reaches directly between the roller rings. In combination with the Explorer design, the bearing unit is designed for demanding continuous loads.
The tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 facilitates assembly and disassembly on cylindrical or stepped shafts, for example by using a suitable mounting or withdrawal sleeve. By sliding the bearing axially onto the tapered seat to a defined position, the remaining radial clearance can be controlled during installation. With dimensional accuracy PN and running accuracy P5, the bearing meets high requirements for concentricity and vibration behaviour. The housing requires an external seal to protect the open bearing from contamination.
This double-row roller bearing features a hollow-ball outer ring raceway and barrel-shaped rolling elements. It dynamically compensates for angular misalignment whilst simultaneously accommodating both radial and axial forces. The designation ‘EK’ refers to the optimised internal design and the tapered bore.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 75 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 55 mm. The bore is tapered at a ratio of 1:12, which allows it to be fitted onto suitable shaft seats or mounting sleeves.
P5 denotes a tighter running accuracy than the standard tolerance PN. The bearing exhibits lower radial and axial run-out deviations. This results in lower vibrations during operation and precise guidance of the shaft.
The open bearing features a circumferential groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring. Grease or lubricating oil can be applied directly between the roller sets via this lubrication channel. Relubrication is carried out whilst the bearing is fitted, via the housing.
The permissible operating range extends from -30 to +200 degrees. The 100Cr6 roller bearing steel used, together with the sheet steel cage, enables the product to be used in industrial environments subject to the corresponding thermal stresses.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance. Press-fitting the tapered bore onto the shaft or adapter sleeve measurably reduces the radial clearance. Checking the residual clearance during installation prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed during operation.
