The SKF 22315 E self-aligning roller bearing (75x160x55 mm) withstands heavy radial loads and compensates for misalignment thanks to its self-aligning design.
The 22315 E self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 75 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 55 mm. In SKF’s Explorer version, this design combines a high load-carrying capacity with compact installation dimensions. The design is particularly suitable for industrial applications where operational deflections or misalignments of the shaft relative to the bearing housing may occur.
The rolling bearing is designed for use under high radial forces and shock loads. Thanks to the shared hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring, the bearing self-aligns during operation, which effectively reduces edge pressures on the rolling elements. The design is suitable for demanding bearing arrangements where misalignment or elastic shaft deflection needs to be compensated for. The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements cleanly along their raceways, even under varying speeds.
As an open rolling bearing, this design has no integrated seals, allowing lubricant to circulate freely and necessitating an external housing seal. A lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring allows direct access of lubricant to the rolling elements. The tolerance class combines dimensional accuracy in accordance with PN with increased running accuracy in accordance with P5 to ensure uniform concentricity. The bearing covers an operating temperature range from –30 to +200 degrees and has standard radial clearance.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 75 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a total width of 55 mm. These dimensions comply with the standardised specifications for self-aligning roller bearings of this size and allow for a precise fit in standardised bearing housings.
The lubrication groove and the associated lubrication holes are used to supply lubricant centrally whilst the unit is in operation. This allows replenishment grease or lubricating oil to enter directly into the interior of the bearing, between the two rows of rollers, which distributes the lubricant requirement evenly and reduces maintenance requirements.
For this bearing, dimensional accuracy complies with the standard tolerance class PN, whilst running accuracy is manufactured to class P5. This means that the mating dimensions for the shaft and housing conform to the standard dimensions, but the concentricity and parallelism tolerances are tighter, which improves running smoothness.
The bearing is specified for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. The rolling bearing steel (100Cr6) used, as well as the sheet steel cage, retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. At higher temperatures, the lubricant used must be suitable for this range.
The component has a standard radial bearing clearance. This design is intended for standard applications with typical shaft and housing fits, as well as moderate operating temperatures, where thermal expansion does not necessitate an increased bearing clearance such as C3 or C4.
The outer ring has a continuous, hollow-spherical raceway. The barrel-shaped rollers can tilt within this raceway together with the inner ring. As a result, the bearing automatically compensates for angular misalignment between the shaft and the housing without causing any additional friction or stress.
