The SKF 22238 CCK/W33 spherical roller bearing, with main dimensions of 190 × 340 × 92 mm, accommodates high radial forces and misalignment.
This SKF 22238 CCK/W33 double-row self-aligning roller bearing is designed for heavy-duty industrial applications. With an inside diameter of 190 mm, an outside diameter of 340 mm and a width of 92 mm, the roller bearing transmits high radial loads whilst providing axial guidance in both directions. Manufactured from hardened standard bearing steel 100Cr6 and featuring the Explorer design, it offers high material quality and dimensional stability across a temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees.
The self-aligning roller bearing is designed for applications where high radial forces are present and shaft deflection or housing misalignment occurs. Thanks to the hollow spherical raceway of the outer ring, the open bearing automatically compensates for angular misalignment between the shaft and the housing. The sheet steel cage guides the symmetrical sets of rollers precisely and can also withstand fluctuating torques. The design is suitable for applications in which open bearings are supplied with lubricant via external feed systems.
The suffix CCK denotes a tapered internal bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting onto tapered shaft seats as well as installation onto cylindrical shafts using a clamping or withdrawal sleeve. The radial bearing clearance can be precisely adjusted by means of controlled axial displacement. The designation W33 indicates a circumferential groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring, allowing lubricant to enter directly into the bearing interior. The increased running accuracy to P5 also promotes low-vibration concentricity.
The suffix CCK/W33 identifies key design features: CC stands for the sheet steel cage and the internal geometry; K denotes the conical internal bore with a ratio of 1:12; and W33 refers to the lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 190 mm on the inner ring, an outer diameter of 340 mm and a width of 92 mm. Due to its tapered design, the bore tapers across its width at a ratio of 1:12, which must be taken into account during press-fitting.
The open bearing, made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. Within this temperature range, the material retains its dimensional accuracy. The actual operating limit depends on the lubricant selected, which must be suited to the respective operating temperatures.
This rolling bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance (CN). In the case of bearings with a tapered bore, this radial clearance is reduced during the assembly process when the bearing is slid axially onto the shaft or adapter sleeve. The remaining bearing clearance serves to compensate for thermal expansion during operation.
This combination denotes a bearing with standard tolerances for the external dimensions (PN) and improved concentricity and axial run-out precision (P5). As a result, the bearing operates with lower vibration levels than with the standard tolerance, whilst the mounting dimensions remain compatible with standard housing seats.
As this bearing is manufactured without integrated seals, grease or lubricating oil is supplied via an external feed. The W33 lubrication groove, together with the lubrication holes in the outer ring, allows the lubricant to be introduced directly between the two rows of rollers via the bearing housing.
