The 22217 E/C3 self-aligning roller bearing from SKF Rolling Bearings (85x150x36 mm) compensates for misalignment and can handle high radial and axial loads.
The SKF 22217 E/C3 self-aligning roller bearing is an open bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 36 mm. Thanks to the spherical outer ring raceway, the bearing can adjust to any angular misalignment or deflection of the shaft. Fitted with a sheet steel cage and designed for a temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees, this version is particularly suitable for thermally and mechanically demanding applications.
This self-aligning roller bearing is used in bearing arrangements where high radial forces and axial loads on both sides occur. The integrated lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring allows lubricant to enter the bearing directly. The open design allows for flexible integration into existing lubrication systems and copes with continuous load cycles during operation.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance. This clearance compensates for operational thermal expansion or tight fits without the rolling elements becoming jammed. Combined with the enhanced P5 running accuracy and standard PN dimensional accuracy, this rolling bearing combines smooth running with high rotational precision. Before installation, it is advisable to check that the operating temperature lies within the range of -30 to +200 degrees.
A self-aligning roller bearing of this design accommodates high radial forces and, at the same time, axial forces on both sides. Thanks to its barrel-shaped rollers and spherical outer ring raceway, it automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. Size 22217 has a bore of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 36 mm.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This increased clearance between the rollers and raceways counteracts stress build-up should the shaft and bearing heat up during operation due to thermal effects. This ensures free movement even with tighter fits on the 85 mm shaft.
The outer ring of the bearing has a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes. This allows grease or lubricating oil to be applied directly and evenly between the rows of rollers. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, the lubricant is supplied via the surrounding bearing housing.
The component is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. The 100Cr6 roller bearing steel used, as well as the sheet steel cage, retain their dimensional stability within this range. Select a lubricant for use whose thermal specification covers the operating temperature encountered inside the housing.
The PN classification describes the standard dimensional accuracy for dimensions such as bore, outer diameter and width. The designation P5 refers to enhanced running accuracy. The bearing exhibits lower runout deviations, which contributes to smooth, low-vibration operation of the shaft guide.
