The SKF 22214 E/C3 self-aligning roller bearing, measuring 70x125x31 mm, provides reliable compensation for shaft deflection whilst offering high radial load-carrying capacity.
The SKF 22214 E/C3 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. It withstands high radial loads and compensates for misalignment between the shaft and housing through angular movement. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and featuring a sheet steel cage, this open bearing withstands temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. An integrated lubrication groove with lubrication holes on the outer ring facilitates continuous relubrication whilst the bearing is in operation.
It is primarily used under high radial loads, where shaft deflection or misalignment needs to be compensated for. Thanks to the angular contact design, the spherical rollers compensate for misalignment between the inner and outer rings. The open design allows lubricant to be applied directly to the rolling elements and raceways. The operating temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees enables use under fluctuating process temperatures.
The slightly increased factory-set radial bearing clearance (C3) provides the rollers with sufficient radial play should the inner and outer rings heat up to different degrees during operation or should tight fits reduce the bearing clearance. At the same time, the increased running accuracy to class P5, combined with standard dimensional accuracy PN, contributes to low-vibration operation. The design must include a suitable housing seal to keep contaminants away from the raceways of the open bearing.
The bearing has a bore of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 125 mm and a total width of 31 mm. This cylindrical design is suitable for housings and shafts with these nominal diameters.
The suffix C3 indicates a radial clearance that is slightly greater than that of the standard version. This additional radial clearance reduces the risk of stress on the rolling elements if operational heating or tight fits on the shaft reduce the bearing clearance during operation.
The lubricant enters the bearing directly via the circumferential groove and the lubrication holes in the outer ring. This ensures that the grease or oil is distributed evenly between the two rows of rollers.
The open bearing, made from standard 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and featuring a sheet steel cage, is designed for temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. The lubricant and housing seal must be suitable for this temperature range.
Dimensional accuracy complies with class PN for standard tolerances on bore, external diameter and width. Running accuracy is to tolerance class P5, which means tighter concentricity limits than the standard version and contributes to smoother running.
Yes, this bearing does not have integrated sealing washers and is manufactured with an entirely open design. The bearing housing must be protected against the ingress of dirt and the loss of lubricant by means of external seals fitted to the surrounding machine housing.
