The SKF 22214 E spherical roller bearing, measuring 70x125x31 mm, offers high load-carrying capacity for heavy-duty industrial applications with varying misalignments.
The 22214 E self-aligning roller bearing is an open, double-row roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. It accommodates high radial forces as well as combined axial loads and automatically compensates for misalignment or shaft deflection. With key dimensions of a 70 mm bore, 125 mm outside diameter and 31 mm width, the component is suitable for standard installation spaces in mechanical engineering. SKF manufactures this model in the Explorer version from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), combined with a sheet steel cage.
Its use is particularly recommended for bearing arrangements subject to combined loads and design-related misalignments of the shaft. The self-aligning roller design compensates for misalignments between the inner and outer rings without causing excessive edge pressures. As this is an open bearing, lubrication is provided via an external housing system. The permissible temperature range extends from –30 to +200 degrees Celsius, thereby covering a wide range of thermal requirements.
The outer ring features a circumferential lubrication groove with integrated lubrication holes. This facilitates relubrication directly into the contact area of the rolling elements. In addition to the standard dimensional accuracy PN, this bearing offers enhanced running accuracy of class P5. This tighter manufacturing tolerance promotes smooth concentricity and reduces vibrations at high speeds. During installation, care must be taken to ensure an effective external housing seal, as the bearing is supplied from the factory without sealing washers.
With a bore of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 125 mm and a width of 31 mm, the spherical roller bearing complies with standardised mounting dimensions. These dimensions allow for precise alignment with the surrounding housings and shaft seats in mechanical engineering.
SKF’s Explorer series features an advanced design of the rolling bearing, manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. Combined with P5 manufacturing precision, this design promotes even load distribution across the rolling elements and ensures stable rotational behaviour.
A lubrication groove running around the outer ring, with lubrication holes, feeds lubricant directly between the roller rings. As the design is open, the surrounding bearing housing acts as a seal against dirt and keeps the lubricant within the system.
This version is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. This standard bearing clearance is suitable for common fits and operating conditions where there is no extreme thermal expansion between the shaft and the housing.
The permissible operating range extends from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. Both the integrated sheet steel cage and the roller bearing steel used are designed for use within this wide temperature range.
The dimensional accuracy complies with the PN standard class as regards the standardised connection dimensions for the shaft and housing. The running accuracy is to the finer P5 class, which minimises concentricity deviations and ensures smooth running.
