The SKF 22211 E/C3 angular contact roller bearing, measuring 55 × 100 × 25 mm, compensates for angular misalignment and accommodates high radial loads.
The 22211 E/C3 self-aligning roller bearing is an open roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. The double-row roller arrangement on a common hollow-spherical outer ring raceway allows for the compensation of misalignment and shaft deflection. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel and fitted with a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage, this bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. The integrated lubrication groove with holes in the outer ring facilitates the supply of lubricant directly into the bearing interior.
This roller bearing is typically used in drives, gearboxes and industrial plant where high radial loads occur and elastic deformations of the shaft need to be compensated for. The design accommodates both static and dynamic angular misalignment between the inner and outer rings without causing increased edge wear on the rollers. Designers prefer to use this variant in supported shaft assemblies with longer spans or where additional axial forces in both directions need to be supported.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard range. When mounted with a press fit or due to heating during operation, the inner ring expands. The increased radial clearance cushions this temperature and fit effect and prevents internal stress. Users can apply grease or oil precisely between the two roller rings via the circumferential groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring. With the open design, care must be taken to ensure the bearing housing is carefully sealed externally.
With an internal diameter of 55 mm, an external diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm, the roller bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions. This geometry enables it to be fitted precisely into matching housings and onto corresponding shaft seats in industrial mechanical engineering.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard class. This specification is intended for bearing arrangements where operational temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings, or where tight fits result in a reduction in radial operating clearance.
The outer ring features a circumferential lubrication groove with integrated lubrication holes. Lubricators or lubrication lines feed lubricant directly between the rows of rollers. As the bearing is of an open design, an external housing seal protects the raceways from contamination and lubricant loss.
This version is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. The 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. The lubricant used must be specified for the respective operating temperature of the bearing location.
This design combines standard dimensional accuracy (PN) with increased running accuracy to Class P5. The tighter running tolerance reduces radial run-out during rotation, which contributes to a smooth shaft run and minimises vibrations in the structure.
