The SKF 22230 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing accommodates high radial loads with a bore diameter of 150 mm and reliably compensates for misalignment during operation.
The SKF 22230 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is designed for demanding industrial applications involving combined loads. Thanks to its double-row barrel rollers, the bearing automatically compensates for static and dynamic angular misalignment and shaft deflection. The design, made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel, operates reliably within a temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees Celsius. As an Explorer version, the open bearing combines standardised dimensional accuracy in accordance with PN with enhanced running accuracy in accordance with tolerance class P5.
This self-aligning roller bearing is primarily used where high radial forces act on heavy shafts and where operational misalignment may occur. Typical applications include general mechanical engineering, conveyor systems, industrial gearboxes and heavy-duty drives. As the bearing is open at both ends, it can be flexibly integrated into housing systems with external sealing and a central lubrication supply.
The design with a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 enables precise mounting directly onto tapered shaft seats or using suitable clamping and withdrawal sleeves. The remaining radial bearing clearance can be precisely adjusted during assembly via the axial slide-on travel. The roller-guided sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements stably, whilst the lubrication groove integrated into the outer ring, with its lubrication holes, ensures a uniform supply of grease or lubricating oil during operation.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 150 mm, an external diameter of 270 mm and a width of 73 mm. These standardised key dimensions make it suitable for heavy-duty applications in mechanical and plant engineering. When designing the housing, please bear in mind that the bore is tapered.
The suffix CC denotes roller-guided sheet steel cages and a flangeless inner ring. The letter ‘K’ indicates a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. The designation ‘W33’ refers to a circumferential lubrication groove with three lubrication holes in the outer ring, which facilitates the even supply of lubricant.
This roller bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance. As the bore is tapered, the radial clearance is reduced when the bearing is fitted onto the tapered seat or the clamping sleeve. The remaining clearance ensures smooth concentric rotation of the rolling elements when the bearing heats up during operation.
The bearing, made from fully hardened standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The integrated sheet steel cage retains its dimensional stability within this range. For continuous operation at higher temperatures, you must take into account the thermal stability of the lubricant used.
No, this is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers. This design allows unrestricted flow of lubricating oil or grease through the lubrication groove. In dusty or damp environments, the bearing requires suitable sealing via the surrounding bearing housing.
SKF Explorer bearings are characterised by an optimised internal geometry and refined raceway surfaces. This model combines PN dimensional accuracy with the tighter running accuracy of tolerance class P5, which contributes to high concentricity and reduced friction.
