The SKF 23044 CCK/W33 spherical roller bearing, with dimensions of 220 × 340 × 90 mm, can withstand high radial loads and, by design, compensates for misalignment.
The 23044 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is part of the SKF Explorer range and is designed for demanding industrial applications. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel, this open bearing features a standard radial clearance and a robust sheet-steel cage. The design accommodates shaft deflection and misalignment between the inner and outer rings. For relubrication, the outer ring features an integrated lubrication groove with lubrication holes (W33).
This bearing is primarily used in heavily loaded industrial drives and heavy-duty shaft mountings. The self-aligning roller bearing design proves its worth wherever high radial loads occur and shaft misalignment needs to be compensated for. With a permissible temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees, the bearing also copes with environments subject to thermal stress during operation.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on tapered shaft seats or, with the aid of suitable mounting and withdrawal sleeves, on cylindrical shafts. The desired radial clearance can be adjusted during mounting. The W33 feature allows direct lubricant supply via the outer ring straight into the interior of the rolling elements, which simplifies maintenance.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 220 mm, an outer diameter of 340 mm and a width of 90 mm. Thanks to its standardised key dimensions, it can be integrated precisely into existing bearing housings and machine designs.
The symbol ‘K’ indicates a tapered internal bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design is suitable for direct mounting on tapered shaft journals or for mounting on smooth shafts using a locking sleeve, which allows the radial bearing clearance to be adjusted during installation.
The designation W33 refers to a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring of the bearing. This allows grease or lubricating oil to be applied directly and evenly between the rows of rollers during maintenance work, without having to dismantle the bearing.
This roller bearing combines standard dimensional accuracy (PN) with the increased running accuracy of tolerance class P5. The tighter running tolerance contributes to smooth roller guidance and ensures quiet operation in demanding industrial drives.
Thanks to the heat treatment of the standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and its design featuring a sheet steel cage, the open bearing is rated for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. It is therefore suitable for both cold environments and heat-intensive industrial plants.
As an open roller bearing, it has no integrated lip seals or cover plates. This allows for continuous relubrication via the W33 system and operation in oil bath or centralised lubrication systems. The application housing provides the primary seal against dirt and moisture.
