The SKF 23148 CC/C3W33 spherical roller bearing, measuring 240 x 400 x 128 mm, offers reliable load-carrying capacity for heavy radial and axial loads in continuous industrial operation.
The SKF 23148 CC/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing withstands heavy loads and automatically compensates for misalignment between the shaft and housing. As an open roller bearing with main dimensions of 240 mm bore, 400 mm outer diameter and 128 mm width, this model is designed for installation in enclosed housing systems. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements through the raceways with minimal vibration.
Design engineers and maintenance technicians rely on this bearing when heavy shaft mountings need to rotate reliably despite deflection or assembly inaccuracies. The hollow-spherical outer ring raceway allows angular movements without impairing function. Typical applications include industrial settings where high radial forces and axial forces acting on both sides occur, and where misalignments need to be compensated for.
The suffix C3 indicates an increased radial clearance as supplied. This additional freedom of movement prevents the rolling elements from becoming stressed when the shaft and bearing rings heat up during operation or when tight fits cause the inner ring to expand. The designation W33 stands for a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. Maintenance teams use this to feed the lubricant directly between the roller sets, which facilitates relubrication whilst the bearing is in operation.
With an internal diameter of 240 mm, an external diameter of 400 mm and a total width of 128 mm, the spherical roller bearing complies with standardised dimensions. These dimensions facilitate targeted replacement in existing industrial plants as well as the design of new bearing arrangements in mechanical engineering.
Bearing clearance class C3 offers greater radial clearance than the standard version. It compensates for thermal expansion at operating temperatures between -30 and +200 degrees and reduces the risk of excessive preload in fixed bearing seats, allowing the rollers to roll freely.
The lubrication groove and the holes in the outer ring, often referred to as feature W33, ensure a rapid and even supply of grease or lubricating oil. Lubricant enters the bearing directly through these openings, protecting the contact zones from premature wear.
This bearing combines the standard dimensional accuracy PN with the enhanced running accuracy P5. This design ensures precise running characteristics of the rotating inner ring, whilst the bearing’s mounting dimensions remain within the tried-and-tested standard limits to facilitate straightforward housing installation.
This roller bearing is designed as an open type without integrated sealing washers. It must be protected against the ingress of contaminants within the housing by external sealing systems, such as labyrinth seals or shaft seals, and must be continuously supplied with lubricant via the lubrication system.
Both the rings and the roller elements are made from standard 100Cr6 roller bearing steel. This material offers high wear resistance and is designed for a temperature range of minus 30 to plus 200 degrees.
