The SKF 23240 CCK/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing, with a 200 mm bore, offers high load-carrying capacity for demanding industrial applications involving misalignment.
The SKF 23240 CCK/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing accommodates heavy radial loads as well as combined axial forces. Thanks to the hollow spherical outer ring raceway, this design automatically compensates for static and dynamic angular misalignments between the inner and outer rings. As an open rolling bearing made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel with a sheet steel cage, the component is designed for a temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees. The integrated lubrication system, comprising grooves and bores in the outer ring, facilitates relubrication during operation.
This design is suitable for demanding shaft mountings subject to high radial loads and simultaneous axial forces. If elastic shaft deflection or manufacturing-related angular misalignment occurs between the bearing seats, the bearing compensates for these deviations without the need for forced alignment. With main dimensions of 200 × 360 × 128 mm, the component also absorbs uneven impact forces during continuous operation.
The tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 allows for secure mounting directly onto tapered shaft seats or onto cylindrical shafts using clamping or withdrawal sleeves. When axially slid onto the tapered seat, the radial clearance is measurably reduced, allowing the interference fit to be precisely adjusted. The increased bearing clearance class C3 helps to ensure that sufficient operating clearance is maintained after press-fitting and when the bearing is heated. The W33 feature provides lubricant supply directly into the bearing interior.
The designation CCK/C3W33 combines several design features: CC refers to the internal construction with a sheet steel cage. The ‘K’ stands for a tapered bore with a ratio of 1:12. ‘C3’ indicates increased radial bearing clearance compared to the standard, whilst ‘W33’ describes the design featuring a lubrication groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring.
With an internal diameter of 200 mm, an external diameter of 360 mm and a width of 128 mm, the bearing has standardised key dimensions. These values serve as a binding basis for designers and maintenance engineers when designing connecting structures such as housing seats and shaft shoulders.
A tapered bore allows for a backlash-free, positive-lock fit on conical shaft journals or when using suitable clamping or extraction sleeves. The axial displacement during press-fitting allows the reduction in bearing clearance to be checked using a feeler gauge, in order to ensure the inner ring is correctly seated.
The permissible operating range is from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The combination of standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and a sheet steel cage is suitable for this temperature range. When selecting a grease or lubricating oil, the expected temperature range must be taken into account.
The lubricant is fed directly from the outside between the rows of rollers via a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This W33 design facilitates relubrication whilst the bearing is fitted and promotes the even distribution of grease or lubricating oil throughout the entire bearing interior.
In this model, the dimensional accuracy complies with standard tolerance PN, whilst the running accuracy is to tolerance class P5. This combination is recommended for applications which, in addition to a high load-carrying capacity, require enhanced concentricity of the rotating shaft.
