The SKF 24032 CCK30/W33 spherical roller bearing, with main dimensions of 160 × 240 × 80 mm, effectively accommodates high radial loads and misalignment.
This double-row self-aligning roller bearing, type 24032 CCK30/W33, belongs to the SKF Explorer performance class and is made from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6). As an open roller bearing without sealing rings, it is designed for use in a temperature range from -30 to +200 degrees. The design combines standard dimensional accuracy (PN) with enhanced running accuracy to tolerance class P5. Thanks to the integrated circumferential groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring, lubricants are fed directly between the two rows of rollers.
Design engineers primarily use this design for heavy-duty industrial bearings subjected to high radial forces and deflections. The self-aligning bearing automatically compensates for static and dynamic angular misalignments between the inner and outer rings without causing additional edge pressures on the rolling elements. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the symmetrical spherical rollers with minimal vibration and keeps friction low even at high operating pressures. Thanks to the through-hardened bearing steel, the bearing can also withstand uneven shock loads during continuous, long-term operation.
The design with a taper ratio of 1:30 (designation suffix K30) facilitates mounting on tapered shaft seats or using suitable mounting and withdrawal sleeves. By sliding the bearing axially onto the taper to a defined extent, you can precisely set the remaining operating radial clearance. As the normal bearing clearance is reduced during press-fitting, you must carefully measure the residual radial clearance during the mounting process. The W33 lubrication groove in the outer ring also helps to ensure that fresh lubricant reaches all rolling elements directly.
At SKF, ‘CC’ denotes pressed sheet steel cages and an inner ring without a guide ring. The designation ‘K30’ refers to a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:30, whilst ‘W33’ describes a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes on the outer ring.
With a bore diameter of 160 mm, an outside diameter of 240 mm and a width of 80 mm, the bearing offers a high radial load-carrying capacity within a compact installation space. These dimensions determine the installation space required in the housing and on the shaft.
When fitted with standard radial bearing clearance, the internal play is reduced during assembly as the bearing is pushed axially onto the tapered seat. You should therefore carefully check the remaining radial play during installation using a feeler gauge.
You can apply grease or lubricating oil directly into the bearing through the lubrication groove with holes in the outer ring (feature W33). As the bearing is of an open design, external seals in the surrounding bearing housing must prevent the lubricant from leaking out.
Designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees, the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the heat-resistant sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability. This allows them to be used in demanding thermal environments.
The combination of dimensional accuracy PN and running accuracy P5 means that the mounting dimensions comply with the standard specification, whilst the concentricity of the inner and outer rings adheres to tighter tolerances. This promotes low-vibration operation during demanding rotational movements.
