The SKF 24056 CC/W33 spherical roller bearing, measuring 280 × 420 × 140 mm, offers high load-carrying capacity for heavy-duty shaft mountings with angular misalignment.
The 24056 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is an open, double-row roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications with shaft diameters of 280 mm. The design, made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel, automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. Fitted with a robust sheet steel cage and manufactured in the SKF Explorer design, this large bearing is suitable for continuous heavy-duty service within a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. This provides technical buyers and maintenance engineers with a durable solution for compact installation spaces.
This self-aligning roller bearing is primarily used on heavily loaded large shafts and industrial gearboxes where high radial and axial forces act simultaneously. As shafts can deform elastically under heavy loads, the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway counteracts harmful edge stresses on the roller bodies. The operating temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees Celsius allows for operation even in high-heat working environments.
The suffix W33 denotes an annular lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This feature facilitates the targeted supply of lubricant directly into the centre of the rolling elements during routine maintenance. In combination with the standard dimensional accuracy PN and the increased running accuracy of class P5, the bearing operates with low vibration and good concentricity even under high radial loads. For designers and fitters, this system simplifies relubrication cycles and ensures even grease distribution.
With a cylindrical bore of 280 mm, an outside diameter of 420 mm and a width of 140 mm, the bearing is suitable for heavy-duty large-shaft applications. Before fitting the bearing, check the shaft and housing shoulders for precise dimensional accuracy and a cylindrical shape.
The designation ‘CC’ refers to the internal design featuring window-like sheet steel cages, which ensure low-friction guidance of the rollers. The designation W33 describes a circumferential groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This design allows the roller rows to be relubricated directly from the outside without opening the housing.
In this version, the manufacturer combines the standard dimensional accuracy PN for the outer diameter and bore with the finer running accuracy of class P5. As a result, the bearing exhibits lower runout deviations on the rings. This results in smoother running and reduces vibrations in the drivetrain.
As this is an unsealed roller bearing without factory-fitted grease, please select the lubricant to suit the operating speed and operating temperature. Grease or lubricating oil should preferably be supplied via the W33 lubrication holes in the outer ring. An external housing seal protects the exposed rollers from contamination.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the integrated sheet steel cage are designed for this range. If temperatures remain high for prolonged periods, ensure that the lubricant used and the housing seals are suitable for this temperature range.
The Explorer version features roller bearings with a specially adapted surface finish on the raceways and improved contact geometry between the rollers and the raceway. This optimisation minimises friction, reduces temperature build-up under heavy loads and helps to ensure a long service life for the bearing assembly.
