The SKF 22330 CC/W33 open self-aligning roller bearing (150x320x108 mm) compensates for misalignment and accommodates heavy radial and axial loads in mechanical engineering.
The SKF 22330 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing designed for heavy-duty industrial applications involving combined loads. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the bearing adjusts with angular movement, thereby compensating for shaft deflection and misalignment. The design, made from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), features a robust sheet steel cage and operates within a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. As an Explorer version, this open bearing is characterised by optimised surfaces and high-quality rolling-element bearing steel.
Typical applications include heavy-duty mechanical engineering and industrial shaft mountings subject to high loads. The bearing is suitable for applications where high radial forces are combined with axial forces on both sides. Thanks to its open design, the bearing can be integrated directly into enclosed housings. In the event of shaft deflection under load, the internal design counteracts harmful edge stresses on the rolling elements, thereby promoting smooth running.
The suffix W33 denotes a lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring, which simplifies targeted relubrication directly into the bearing interior. The tolerance class combines normal dimensional accuracy (PN) with increased running accuracy in accordance with Class P5. This minimises runout errors, which reduces vibrations at higher speeds. Featuring standard radial bearing clearance, the bearing is particularly suitable for standard fit combinations without significant temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
The roller bearing has an internal diameter (bore) of 150 mm, an external diameter of 320 mm and a width of 108 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into suitable pedestal housings or machine frames.
The designation CC denotes two window-type sheet steel cages, an inner ring without a guide ring, and symmetrical rollers. The designation W33 indicates a circumferential groove with several holes in the outer ring, through which lubricant can be fed directly between the rows of rollers.
This model is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers. It is typically used in housings that are protected against the ingress of contaminants and lubricant loss by external seals, such as labyrinth seals or shaft seals.
The PN dimensional accuracy complies with the standard tolerance values for bore, outer diameter and width. The P5 running accuracy offers tighter tolerances for concentricity and parallelism, which improves smoothness of operation and reduces vibrations during use.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. To ensure safe operation within this temperature range, the lubricant used – whether grease or oil – must be suitable for the respective operating temperatures.
SKF’s Explorer class features an improved internal geometry and enhanced material quality in the rolling bearing steel. This helps to optimise stress distribution across the raceways and reduce friction under demanding operating conditions.
