The SKF 24124 CC/C4W33 self-aligning roller bearing, with dimensions of 120x200x80 mm and a C4 clearance, offers high load-carrying capacity under thermal expansion.
The SKF 24124 CC/C4W33 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel. With a bore of 120 mm, an outer diameter of 200 mm and a width of 80 mm, this design accommodates heavy radial loads as well as combined axial forces. Thanks to the spherical outer ring raceway, the bearing automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation, thereby preventing edge stresses.
Bearing arrangements subject to heavy radial and combined axial forces constitute the typical field of application for this series. Thanks to the significantly increased radial clearance (C4), this design is intended for operating conditions involving significant heating or temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. The temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees covers demanding thermal environmental conditions. The lubrication groove with lubrication holes on the outer ring in accordance with W33 facilitates the supply of lubricant directly into the bearing interior.
The C4 classification denotes a radial bearing clearance that is significantly greater than normal bearing clearance. This ensures that sufficient movement is maintained for the rolling elements, even with tight fits on the shaft and significant thermal expansion. Furthermore, this model combines the standard dimensional accuracy PN for the connecting dimensions with the enhanced running accuracy P5. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rollers with low friction, whilst the open profile is designed for external lubrication systems.
This roller bearing has an inside diameter of 120 mm, an outside diameter of 200 mm and a total width of 80 mm. The wide design of the 241 series provides a high load-carrying capacity within a compact installation space. Design engineers prefer to use these dimensions for heavily loaded shaft bearings with limited axial installation space.
The designation C4 indicates a significantly increased radial clearance. Under operating conditions involving high heat generation, the shaft and inner ring often expand more than the housing. The increased radial clearance prevents the roller elements from becoming jammed and protects the raceways from excessive stress.
The suffix W33 denotes a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication bores in the outer ring of the bearing. This allows fresh lubricant to flow directly into the interior of the rolling element rows via a bore in the bearing housing. This facilitates scheduled relubrication and promotes the formation of a uniform lubricating film.
The bearing has the standard tolerance class PN for its external dimensions, such as bore and outer diameter. Its running accuracy, however, corresponds to the finer class P5. This combination ensures precise concentricity of the rolling elements when the surrounding mounting structure has standard fit dimensions.
Manufactured from through-hardened 100Cr6 roller bearing steel, this bearing is designed for operating temperatures between -30 and +200 degrees. The integrated sheet steel cage is also designed to withstand these thermal conditions. To ensure reliable operation, a lubricant must be selected whose operating temperature range corresponds to this thermal range.
As an open roller bearing, this component is not filled with grease at the factory. Before commissioning, it must be lubricated in accordance with the application using a suitable roller bearing grease or gear oil. The open ends also require a housing seal to protect against dirt and moisture.
