The SKF 22232 CCK/C3W33 spherical roller bearing compensates for misalignment under heavy radial loads and measures 160 x 290 x 80 mm.
The SKF 22232 CCK/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing is designed for demanding mechanical loads. This double-row roller bearing accommodates high radial forces as well as axial forces acting in both directions. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the design compensates for misalignment or shaft deflection during operation. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel and featuring a sheet steel cage, it operates reliably within a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. As an open bearing, it can be flexibly integrated into existing lubrication systems.
The design is suitable for applications involving high radial loads where shaft deflection or misalignment must be compensated for. The internal geometry distributes heavy loads evenly across both rows of rollers. In conjunction with the lubrication groove and the lubrication holes in the outer ring, as indicated by the suffix W33, lubricant is fed directly between the rolling elements. This reduces friction and wear under continuous loads in industrial drive systems.
The designation CCK refers to a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design allows for direct mounting on tapered shaft seats or mounting on cylindrical shafts using clamping or withdrawal sleeves. By axially sliding the inner ring onto the shaft, the fit can be precisely adjusted by reducing the bearing clearance. The slightly increased radial bearing clearance (C3) provides the necessary leeway to compensate for any reduction in clearance caused by tight fits or operational heating. Furthermore, the P5 tolerance class for running accuracy ensures a high level of concentricity.
With an internal diameter of 160 mm, an external diameter of 290 mm and a total width of 80 mm, the bearing has defined key dimensions. These mounting dimensions must be taken into account during design, particularly when selecting suitable bearing housings and appropriate clamping or withdrawal sleeves for the tapered mounting.
W33 denotes a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring of the bearing. This design feature allows for targeted relubrication from the outside whilst the bearing is in operation. The lubricant thus enters directly into the bearing housing and is distributed evenly across both rows of rollers, which simplifies maintenance procedures.
C3 denotes a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. When the tapered inner ring is pressed onto the shaft, it expands radially, thereby reducing the internal bearing clearance. The C3 bearing clearance compensates for this expansion as well as thermal expansion at operating temperatures of up to +200 degrees.
Tapered bores with a 1:12 taper are fitted directly onto tapered shaft seats or secured to cylindrical shafts using clamping or withdrawal sleeves. The interference fit is checked during axial installation by measuring the remaining radial bearing clearance during the assembly process and adjusting it in accordance with the specifications.
Designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees, the bearing is made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and features a sheet steel cage. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, the actual thermal operating range in the respective application is determined primarily by the lubricant selected.
P5 denotes a tighter tolerance for running accuracy, whilst the dimensional accuracy corresponds to the standard PN class. Higher running accuracy reduces run-out errors during operation. This proves particularly useful in demanding industrial drives to ensure precise shaft guidance.
