The SKF 22215 E open spherical roller bearing, measuring 75x130x31 mm, offers high load-carrying capacity and compensates for misalignment through angular movement.
The double-row 22215 E self-aligning roller bearing accommodates high radial loads as well as axial loads acting in both directions. Its barrel-shaped rolling elements move on the spherical outer ring raceway, enabling the bearing to adjust to angular misalignment and compensate for shaft deflection during operation. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel in the SKF Explorer design, the bearing is designed for operating conditions in the temperature range from –30 to +200 degrees Celsius.
This design is suitable for applications where high radial forces occur in conjunction with misalignment between the shaft and housing. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the roller sets precisely and retains its shape even under dynamic loads. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, the lubricant can be selected to suit the specific operating environment and supplied via the surrounding housing.
The bearing combines standard dimensional accuracy PN with the more precise running accuracy of tolerance class P5. This tighter running tolerance reduces runout deviations and promotes smooth rotational behaviour of the shaft. For lubrication, the outer ring features a lubrication groove with lubrication holes. This facilitates relubrication whilst the bearing is installed, as fresh lubricant reaches the rolling element zone directly.
With an internal diameter of 75 mm, an external diameter of 130 mm and a width of 31 mm, this design complies with the standardised key dimensions. These dimensions enable a precise fit when installed on corresponding shaft seats and in standardised bearing housings.
P5 denotes a tighter tolerance than the standard with regard to concentricity and axial run-out. Whilst the mating dimensions comply with the standard PN tolerance, P5 reduces the radial bearing clearance during operation and promotes low-vibration operation of the shaft.
Integrated into the outer ring, the lubrication groove, together with lubrication bores, directs liquid or paste-like lubricants from the outside directly between the rows of rollers. This design feature simplifies regular relubrication whilst the assembly is in place.
Manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance, this bearing offers the manufacturer’s specified basic clearance for standard applications. This range is designed for typical fit specifications and conventional operating temperatures, where there is no need to compensate for increased thermal expansion.
The combination of 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and a sheet steel cage is approved for operating temperatures between -30 and +200 degrees Celsius. When operating near the temperature limits, the lubricant used and any external housing seals must be specified for the relevant temperature range.
Without integrated sealing washers, the open design allows for the selection of a lubricant specific to the application and simplifies the visual inspection of the roller set. In this design, protection against the ingress of dirt and lubricant loss is provided by the surrounding machine housing.
