The SKF 21312 EK self-aligning roller bearing, with a 60 mm tapered bore and lubrication groove, offers high load-carrying capacity for demanding industrial applications.
The SKF 21312 EK self-aligning roller bearing is an open roller bearing designed for high radial and combined loads. With key dimensions of a 60 mm bore, 130 mm outer diameter and 31 mm width, this design automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rollers evenly. The Explorer version utilises an optimised internal geometry, whilst the permissible temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees enables a wide range of industrial applications.
The double-row roller arrangement reliably withstands high radial forces as well as simultaneously acting axial forces in both directions. Typical applications include shaft mountings prone to deflection or housing misalignment. Fresh lubricant is fed directly between the rows of rollers via the lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. The open bearing allows for a continuous supply of lubricant within the machine housing, which aids heat dissipation and helps to reduce wear.
The suffix ‘K’ indicates a tapered bore with a standard taper of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on tapered shaft journals or, using a suitable adapter sleeve, on smooth shafts. By sliding the bearing onto the shaft axially, fitters can adjust the radial bearing clearance in a controlled manner. The model features standard radial bearing clearance and a restricted running accuracy to tolerance class P5, which ensures smooth and low-vibration operation.
With an internal diameter of 60 mm, an external diameter of 130 mm and a width of 31 mm, the bearing complies with standard industrial dimensions. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel, this version fits into appropriately sized pedestal bearings and machine housings.
The letter K denotes a tapered internal bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This taper allows the bearing to be mounted on stepped shafts or securely fitted to cylindrical shafts using a locking sleeve, thereby enabling the remaining bearing clearance to be precisely adjusted during installation.
As an open roller bearing, this component is designed for lubricated housing systems. Fresh lubricant enters the interior directly via the lubrication groove and the holes in the outer ring. In this design, external housing seals provide protection against dirt and moisture.
This roller bearing is designed with standard radial clearance. When the tapered bore is slid onto the shaft, this radial clearance is reduced as a result of the fitting process. It is therefore advisable to check the bearing clearance continuously during the fitting process using a feeler gauge.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees. The dimensionally stable sheet steel cage and the rings made of through-hardened roller bearing steel retain their mechanical stability within this temperature range. Operation requires a grease or lubricating oil with the appropriate temperature resistance.
Tolerance class P5 denotes a higher level of running accuracy than the standard tolerance PN, with reduced radial and axial run-out deviations. This results in smooth rolling element movement, helps to maintain the dimensional accuracy of rotating shafts and reduces operational vibrations throughout the entire system.
