SKF 23218 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing: An open industrial roller bearing measuring 90 x 160 x 52.4 mm, designed for high loads and to compensate for misalignment.
The SKF 23218 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is designed to accommodate high radial forces as well as combined axial loads. Thanks to the hollow spherical outer ring raceway, this design adapts to misalignment or shaft deflection during operation. The open design, made from roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with a sheet steel cage, is suitable for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees.
This design is suitable for demanding bearing locations where shaft deflection or misalignment between the housing and the shaft occurs. The double-row roller bearing automatically compensates for these angular misalignments during operation, thereby preventing localised edge stresses on the rolling elements. As this is an open design without sealing washers, its use requires an external housing seal to protect against dirt and moisture, as well as a suitable lubricant.
The suffix W33 denotes a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. During maintenance, the lubricant flows through this lubrication channel directly between the two rows of rollers into the interior of the bearing. This design combines PN dimensional accuracy at the mounting dimensions with enhanced running accuracy to class P5. This promotes smooth rotational movement and reduces vibrations during continuous operation.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 90 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width across flats of 52.4 mm. These dimensions comply with the metric series for self-aligning roller bearings and allow for installation in standardised industrial housings.
The designation W33 refers to a ring-shaped lubrication groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring of the rolling bearing. These channels allow lubricant to be fed directly into the bearing during maintenance intervals without the need to completely dismantle the housing.
This model is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. Standard bearing clearance is suitable for common fit specifications and average temperature differences between the inner and outer rings during normal machine operation.
As an open roller bearing, this design does not feature integrated sealing washers. This allows the lubricant to circulate freely and be replenished during operation via the W33 groove. External housing seals, such as shaft seals, are required to protect against dust and moisture.
The bearing combines standard dimensional tolerances (PN) for a precise fit with tighter concentricity and radial run-out tolerances of tolerance class P5. The higher running accuracy reduces vibrations and ensures an even load distribution across the rolling elements.
The self-aligning roller bearing, manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and featuring a sheet steel cage, is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. Please note that the lubricant used must be suitable for the respective operating temperature.
