The FAG 2311-TVH double-row self-aligning ball bearing (55x120x43 mm) compensates for misalignment and features a lightweight polyamide cage.
The FAG 2311-TVH self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6). Thanks to the hollow-spherical raceway of the outer ring, this design is suitable for bearing locations where shaft deflection or misalignment occurs. This version has a cylindrical bore of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a width of 43 mm. Manufactured with standard radial clearance, the open bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel primarily use the 2311 -TVH self-aligning ball bearing in shaft mountings where misalignment of the housing or load-induced shaft deflection needs to be compensated for. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering for shafts with longer support spans or in designs involving elastic deflections. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, users can apply the lubricant flexibly via the housing system.
The suffix TVH denotes a polyamide cage. This material reduces the weight of the rolling element set and promotes quiet running with low friction. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees. When designing the application, it must be borne in mind that this bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN and requires external sealing of the bearing housing.
With a bore diameter of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a width of 43 mm, the roller bearing has standardised main dimensions. It is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, which ensures that the component fits precisely onto cylindrical shafts and into corresponding bearing seats.
The outer ring of the double-row bearing has a continuous, hollow-spherical raceway. The two sets of balls can move freely within it, together with the inner ring. If the shaft deflects or there is a misalignment between the housings, the bearing compensates for this angular misalignment during operation without any sharp, concentrated stresses being imposed on the rolling elements.
The suffix TVH indicates a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight, elastic properties and favourable sliding characteristics. As a result, the cage promotes smooth running. Compared with heavier metal cages, the lower mass also reduces the inertial forces during dynamic accelerations in the rolling element set.
As this version is designed as an open roller bearing without factory-fitted sealing washers, users select the lubricant themselves to suit the specific application. Lubrication is carried out either with roller bearing grease or gearbox oil via the surrounding bearing housing. At the same time, external housing seals must be fitted to keep the lubricant within the bearing chamber and prevent contamination.
The pendulum bearing is designed with standard radial clearance. This parameter describes the radial movement of the balls between the inner and outer rings when the bearing is unmounted. The standard clearance provides sufficient space to ensure that, after being pressed onto the shaft and subject to operational heating, the bearing operates within the specified operating clearance.
The temperature range specified for the use of this roller bearing is -30 to +120 degrees. Both the standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the polyamide cage are designed for these operating conditions. When selecting the lubricant, care must be taken to ensure that it is suitable for the temperatures prevailing under the respective operating conditions.
