The FAG 1307-TVH self-aligning ball bearing (35x80x21 mm) compensates for misalignment with its double-row design and operates particularly quietly thanks to its polyamide cage.
The 1307-TVH self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing with a common hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. With key dimensions of a 35 mm bore, 80 mm outer diameter and 21 mm width, this bearing is used where shafts deflect or misalignment occurs between housing bores. The manufacturer, FAG, produces this bearing from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. Design engineers and maintenance personnel are provided with a versatile component for demanding mechanical environments.
This double-row bearing is designed for applications where operational misalignments or shaft deflection between the inner and outer rings need to be compensated for. Typical applications include designs with longer shafts or multi-part housings, where misalignments may occur. Thanks to the spherical outer ring raceway, the ball set automatically adjusts to angular misalignment, thereby helping to prevent edge loading. The component is used in applications where rigid deep-groove ball bearings would be overloaded due to misalignment.
The suffix -TVH denotes the version with a polyamide cage. This material reduces the weight of the rotating assembly, ensures quiet operation and minimises friction during ball rotation. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, the lubricant must be selected to suit the operating environment. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The bearing housing requires an external housing seal to protect the bearing from ingress of dirt and moisture.
The dimensions are 35 mm internal diameter (bore), 80 mm external diameter and 21 mm width. When fitted to a cylindrical shaft, the inner ring in its standard version provides a precise fit for guiding the two rows of balls.
At FAG, the letter code -TVH denotes a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its elasticity and low inertia. It guides the two rows of balls with low friction and ensures smooth running within the specified temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The two rows of balls run on a shared hollow spherical surface within the outer ring. This allows the inner ring, together with the ball cage, to oscillate within the housing without the load being concentrated at specific points on the groove edges. This design serves to compensate for dynamic deflections of rotating shafts as well as misalignment errors during installation.
As an open roller bearing, this design has no factory-fitted sealing washers and contains no grease. Grease or lubricating oil must be applied during assembly in accordance with the operating conditions. An external housing seal is required to ensure that the lubricant remains within the bearing and that no dirt particles can penetrate from the outside.
This component features standard radial bearing clearance and the standard tolerance class P0/PN (comparable to ABEC 1). This combination meets the standard requirements of general mechanical engineering. The standard bearing clearance helps to ensure sufficient operating clearance for typical shaft and housing fits.
The inner and outer rings, as well as the rolling elements, are made of through-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This material offers high fatigue strength under load. The cage is made of polyamide, which means the bearing is designed for use at temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
