SKF 1313-ektn9 double-row self-aligning ball bearing with a tapered bore of 1:12, an outer diameter of 140 mm and a width of 33 mm, for angularly adjustable mountings.
The 1313-ektn9 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel, which automatically compensates for misalignment between the shaft and housing. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the two rows of balls adjust their angular position during operation to prevent edge loading on the rolling elements. The open design allows for flexible lubrication via the housing system, whilst the integrated polyamide cage ensures quiet running. The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 °C.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel primarily use this self-aligning ball bearing in applications where shaft deflection or misalignment between bearing locations may occur. Typical applications include long shaft runs, gearbox outputs or conveyor systems with separate pedestal housings. The bearing primarily absorbs radial loads and accommodates operational misalignment of the inner ring relative to the outer ring. Thanks to its standard radial clearance, the component is suitable for common fit conditions and standard operating conditions in mechanical engineering.
The tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 allows for direct mounting on tapered shaft journals or fixing onto cylindrical shafts using a clamping or withdrawal sleeve. With this method, you can finely adjust the operating clearance by axially sliding the bearing on the tapered seat. This simplifies installation as well as subsequent maintenance work in areas of the machine that are difficult to access. As this is an open design, suitable housing seals ensure protection against contamination.
Two rows of balls run on a shared spherical outer ring raceway, enabling the roller bearing to automatically compensate for misalignment and shaft deflection. This open-type unit features a tapered bore with a 1:12 taper, a lightweight polyamide cage and standard radial clearance, and is manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel for general industrial applications.
The bearing has an outer diameter of 140 mm and a width of 33 mm. The inner bore is tapered with a taper ratio of 1:12. Before fitting, you should check that the bearing seat and the dimensions of the corresponding mounting sleeve match these dimensions exactly.
The coupling is secured either directly onto a tapered shaft seat or, on a smooth shaft, using a clamping or withdrawal sleeve. The controlled axial sliding onto the taper reduces the radial play, thereby allowing the desired tight fit and the correct operating bearing clearance to be precisely adjusted.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +120 °C. Within this range, the standard roller bearing steel and the polyamide cage retain their mechanical strength. When selecting the grease or lubricating oil, you should ensure that its thermal specification is suitable for this operating range.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the standardised basic clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. It helps to ensure that, after the bearing has been correctly pressed onto the tapered seat, the radial clearance is reduced to a suitable operating clearance without causing the bearing to become stressed.
As an open roller bearing, this model is designed for installation in locations where external seals in the surrounding housing provide protection against dirt and moisture. The open design allows for a free choice of lubricant and facilitates easy relubrication during routine maintenance.
