The 2204 ETN9 double-row angular contact ball bearing compensates for angular misalignment caused by shaft deflection and measures 20 × 47 × 18 mm in an open design with a polyamide cage.
The 2204 ETN9 self-aligning ball bearing from SKF is a double-row radial ball bearing made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel with a cylindrical bore. Thanks to the shared spherical raceway in the outer ring, the bearing automatically self-aligns in the event of misalignment. This design is primarily used where elastic shaft deflection or manufacturing-related misalignment between the bearing seats needs to be compensated for. With a bore of 20 mm, an outer diameter of 47 mm and a width of 18 mm, it complies with compact standard dimensions.
This rolling bearing is suitable for industrial bearing applications where misalignment of the housing bores or elastic deflection of the rotating shaft needs to be compensated for. It is used in mechanical assemblies and drive systems subject to predominantly radial loads and moderate axial forces. The open design, without integrated sealing washers, allows for flexible lubrication with grease or oil directly via the surrounding housing structure.
The manufacturer-specific suffix ETN9 denotes a lightweight polyamide cage and an optimised internal geometry of the rolling elements. The plastic cage reduces the rotating masses of the rolling element guidance and promotes quiet running with low frictional resistance during operation. The permissible temperature range extends from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. This version is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance and complies with the specifications of tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
Two rows of balls run in separate grooves in the inner ring and share a continuous spherical raceway in the outer ring. This spherical shape allows the bearing rings to pivot relative to one another. As a result, the bearing compensates for misalignment without excessive edge stresses being exerted on the raceways.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 20 mm, an outside diameter of 47 mm and a width across flats of 18 mm. These dimensions comply with standardised key dimensions and allow for direct replacement with roller bearings of the same design and identical dimensions.
ETN9 refers to a polyamide cage and an optimised internal geometry of the rolling elements. The plastic cage guides the balls with low friction and ensures quiet operation. The bearing is designed for operating temperatures between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius.
As an open roller bearing without sealing washers, lubrication is provided by the surrounding structure using grease or lubricating oil. The lubricant reaches the rolling elements directly. A customer-supplied seal on the housing protects against the ingress of contaminants.
The model features standard radial bearing clearance and is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (equivalent to ABEC 1). This specification is suitable for standard installation scenarios in mechanical engineering at normal operating temperatures.
Rings and balls are manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. This material offers high hardness and resistance to mechanical stress, and has become the standard in roller bearing manufacture.
