The 2322-M self-aligning ball bearing (110 × 240 × 80 mm) compensates for misalignment and houses two rows of balls in a sturdy brass cage.
The double-row self-aligning ball bearing 2322 -M from FAG is an open rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 110 mm, an outer diameter of 240 mm and a width of 80 mm. Thanks to the shared hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring, the design compensates for both static and dynamic misalignments between the shaft and housing. In applications involving shaft deflection, the rotation of the two rows of balls remains undisturbed. This version features a solid brass cage and operates within the standard radial clearance.
The 2322-M self-aligning ball bearing is suitable for designs with long shafts or separate bearing housings where manufacturing-related misalignments or shaft deflection under load occur. The geometry accommodates radial loads and compensates for misalignment without edge pressure on the rolling elements. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, the component can be flexibly integrated into oil- or grease-lubricated recirculating systems. The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees.
The letter ‘M’ in the type designation indicates the solid brass cage, which precisely maintains the spacing between the two rows of balls. Brass is characterised by high strength under mechanical stress. The bearing is designed for standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) with a cylindrical inner ring. When designing the bearing mounting, an external seal for the housing must be provided to retain the lubricant and prevent the ingress of dirt.
This bearing has an internal diameter (bore) of 110 mm, an external diameter of 240 mm and a width of 80 mm. It is a double-row roller bearing with a cylindrical inner ring bore, manufactured to standard primary dimensions and made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6.
The outer ring features a continuous, hollow spherical raceway on which the two rows of balls, together with the inner ring, can move freely. If the shaft bends or the housing becomes misaligned, the inner unit pivots accordingly without causing any impermissible edge pressures or stresses.
The letter ‘M’ denotes a solid brass cage. This material provides stable guidance for the rolling elements and is suitable for operating conditions involving high mechanical loads or vibrations. The brass cage maintains the exact spacing between the balls in both rows and ensures smooth running.
This roller bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. As it contains neither contact plastic seals nor temperature-sensitive polyamide cages, this range is essentially determined by the thermal stability of the steel and the brass cage. The lubricant used must be suitable for the respective operating temperature.
The bearing does not have any integrated sealing washers. To ensure that the lubricant remains inside and that no foreign particles or moisture reach the raceways, the surrounding bearing housing must be fitted with suitable seals. This also allows for lubrication with grease or oil as required via the housing design.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance (CN) and complies with the standard tolerance P0 or PN, which corresponds to the international ABEC 1 classification. This design offers proven standard precision for industrial mechanical engineering with standard shaft and housing fit specifications.
