The SKF 2205 E-2RS1TN9 self-aligning ball bearing, measuring 25 × 52 × 18 mm, compensates for shaft deflection and protects against contamination thanks to its lip seals.
This double-row roller bearing, made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6), is suitable for applications where misalignment or elastic shaft deflection occurs. The hollow-spherical outer ring raceway allows the two rows of balls to compensate for angular misalignment between the inner and outer rings during operation. Thanks to the factory-fitted seals, which provide a sliding seal on both sides, the lubricant remains inside whilst dust and moisture are prevented from entering.
The use of this self-aligning ball bearing is recommended for designs with misalignment or for shafts that deflect elastically under load. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering in bearing arrangements where there is a risk of deflection. Thanks to the double-sided sealing, the component is also suitable for dusty environments. The integrated polyamide cage ensures smooth running and keeps the friction torque of the rolling elements low.
The suffix 2RS1 denotes contact seals, which help to reduce the ingress of contaminants and the loss of grease. The polyamide (TN9) material offers high elasticity and good running characteristics at operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +100 degrees Celsius. With standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), the bearing complies with current standards for industrial series production and repairs.
The bearing has a cylindrical bore of 25 mm, an outer diameter of 52 mm and a width of 18 mm. These standardised dimensions allow for the direct replacement of existing standard bearings in your design.
The outer ring has a continuous, hollow spherical raceway on which the two rows of balls can move freely. As a result, the inner ring, together with the set of rolling elements, pivots within the outer ring. The component automatically compensates for misalignment between the bearing seat and the shaft, as well as shaft deflection during operation, without generating any additional forced forces.
The designation 2RS1 refers to sealing rings that abut on both sides. These seals contact the inner ring and seal the interior against moisture and dust. At the same time, they help to minimise the leakage of the factory-applied lubricant over the service life of the bearing.
The abbreviation TN9 refers to a polyamide ball-retaining cage. This plastic cage is characterised by its low weight, smooth running action and low friction. It operates quietly and is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +100 degrees Celsius.
This model is supplied with standard radial bearing clearance. Bearing clearance refers to the radial play between the outer ring, the balls and the inner ring prior to installation. For standard industrial applications without extreme thermal expansion or tight interference fits, this bearing clearance class is the standard choice.
The raceways and balls are manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. This material offers high hardness and wear resistance for contact under dynamic rolling loads. The bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 for precision industrial applications.
