The JTEKT-KOYO NAXR15 needle-axial cylindrical roller bearing, with an outer diameter of 28 mm and a width of 23 mm, accommodates radial and one-way axial loads in confined spaces.
The NAXR15 needle-axial cylindrical roller bearing combines a radial needle cage with an axial cylindrical roller section to form a ready-to-install bearing unit. This combination allows high radial loads to be supported whilst simultaneously providing axial guidance of the shaft in one direction. Its use is recommended where designs are particularly space-saving, where conventional bearing combinations require too much installation space, and where misalignment needs to be avoided.
It is primarily used in gearboxes, machine tools, swivel drives and lifting equipment where combined loads occur within limited radial installation space. By separating the radial and axial roller guidance, the unit transmits transverse forces without affecting the axial raceway. The assembly is frequently integrated into compact industrial gearboxes or pumps to ensure that bearing arrangements are slim and rigid.
The integrated sheet steel cage maintains the rolling elements of both bearing parts at a precise distance and reliably withstands dynamic loads. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel, the unit is designed for an operating temperature range of –20 to +120 °C. In terms of design and installation, this means it is widely suitable for stationary and mobile machinery, provided that the selected lubricant remains stable within this temperature range.
This bearing unit combines a radial needle roller bearing with an axial cylindrical roller bearing in a single compact component. The bearing accommodates radial forces and single-sided axial forces simultaneously, without the need for two separate housing bores.
The component has an external diameter of 28 mm and a total width of 23 mm. Thanks to this small cross-section, the component is particularly suitable for designs with very limited installation space.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -20 to +120 °C. This range is determined by the microstructural stability of the rolling-bearing steel and the sheet-steel cage; the lubricant must be suitable for these temperatures.
A sheet steel cage guides the needles and cylindrical rollers with minimal friction, prevents direct contact between the rolling elements and thus reduces heat build-up and wear. It is also characterised by its low weight.
The raceways and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel, which ensures high compressive strength and dimensional stability under continuous load. The cage is made from dimensionally stable sheet steel.
The NAXR design accommodates axial loads from one direction only. If axial forces occur alternately from both directions, the design must provide for the alignment of two units with respect to one another or for a second axial bearing.
