The SKF QJ210 MA/C3 four-point bearing (50x90x20 mm) accommodates high axial forces in both directions whilst requiring minimal axial installation space.
The QJ210 MA/C3 four-point bearing is a single-row angular contact ball bearing with a split inner ring, specifically designed for axial loads acting from both directions. The design of SKF rolling bearings complies with standard tolerance P0/PN or ABEC 1. As an open rolling bearing without sealing rings, it is suitable for lubricated systems in which the lubricant can reach the raceways unimpeded.
Design engineers primarily use this component where axial forces occur in both directions and there is insufficient axial installation space for double-row bearings. It is often used in combination with a separate radial bearing as a pure axial bearing, with the outer ring mounted in the housing without a groove. Thanks to its design, the bearing absorbs high, alternating axial forces, whilst pure radial loads should remain low.
The brass cage guides the rolling elements stably and is suitable for thermal stresses in the temperature range from –30 to +150 degrees. The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This additional operating clearance compensates for operational temperature differences between the shaft and the housing, ensuring that the bearing does not become stressed even under thermal expansion.
This roller bearing accommodates axial forces on both sides within a narrow installation space. Its key features are the two-piece inner ring and the one-piece outer ring without a retaining groove. With key dimensions of a 50 mm bore, a 90 mm outer diameter and a 20 mm width, it replaces two separate angular contact ball bearings in many designs.
The split inner ring allows a greater number of balls to be accommodated within the bearing, which increases its axial load-carrying capacity. Furthermore, this design allows the outer ring with the ball cage and the two halves of the inner ring to be fitted separately onto the shaft.
The letter combination describes two specific characteristics. The abbreviation MA denotes the brass cage used, which offers high mechanical strength. The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance, which compensates for thermal expansion during operation.
This open four-point bearing can be operated within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. The brass cage and the dimensional stability of the rings support continuous operation within these limits, provided that the surrounding lubricant is suitable for these temperatures.
As an open-type bearing, this component is designed for use in enclosed spaces such as gearboxes or oil-bath systems. The absence of sealing washers allows for direct circulation of lubricating oil or grease and keeps friction to a minimum compared with contact seals.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0/PN, which also corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. This standard class provides the dimensional and running accuracy customary in general mechanical engineering for standardised fits between the shaft and housing.
