Deep Groove Ball Bearings SKF 6200 -Z/C3

The 6200-Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing from SKF Rolling Bearings features compact dimensions of 10x30x9 mm, increased radial clearance and single-sided dust protection.

This single-row deep groove ball bearing 6200 -Z/C3 is primarily designed to withstand radial loads as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel in the Explorer design, the bearing is characterised by dimensional accuracy to P6 and running accuracy to P5. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly in the deep raceway without a flange on the outer ring.

In which applications does the 6200-Z/C3 deep-groove ball bearing prove its worth?

The bearing is used where high speeds occur alongside temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. With a permissible temperature range of –20 to +150 degrees, it is suitable for compact gear stages as well as general industrial applications in mechanical engineering. The single-sided sheet metal cover protects the interior from coarse contaminants entering from the outside, whilst the open opposite side allows for targeted lubrication from inside the housing where required.

What do the ‘Z’ cover plate and the C3 bearing clearance mean in terms of design?

The suffix ‘Z’ denotes a non-contacting gap seal made of sheet steel on one side of the bearing. Unlike sealing lips that create friction, the cover disc does not generate any additional frictional torque, which is why the bearing runs with low friction. The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance. This additional radial clearance compensates for thermal expansion during operation and helps to ensure that tight fits on the shaft or housing do not cause premature stress on the rolling elements. The bearing seat must be matched to the 10 mm bore.

What are the distinctive features of the 6200-Z/C3 deep-groove ball bearing?

A single-row roller bearing with an inner diameter of 10 mm, an outer diameter of 30 mm and a width of 9 mm. It features a single-sided sheet metal cover, increased radial clearance (C3) and higher tolerances of class P6 for dimensions and class P5 for concentricity.

What is the function of the Z cover plate?

The metal cover plate shields the rolling elements from coarse dirt particles without coming into contact with the inner ring. This prevents the generation of additional frictional heat, which facilitates high rotational speeds. The open side also allows lubricant to enter.

Why is the increased C3 clearance useful?

The C3 classification offers greater radial clearance than the standard version. If temperature differences arise between the shaft and the housing during operation, or if tight fits cause the bearing seat to narrow, the bearing will continue to run freely without the rolling elements becoming jammed.

What is the operating temperature range for this roller bearing?

The operating temperature range is specified as -20 to +150 degrees. The 100Cr6 roller bearing steel used and the dimensionally stable sheet steel cage retain their mechanical properties within this range.

What do the tolerance classes P6 and P5 mean?

P6 specifies a tighter tolerance for the main dimensions than the standard tolerance. Class P5 denotes an even higher level of running accuracy for the rings. Both characteristics reduce vibrations and promote smooth concentricity.

What material is the bearing made of?

The rings and rolling elements are made from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. The cage is made from pressed sheet steel, making it lightweight and resistant to common lubricants.
