The SKF 6002/C3 deep-groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 15x32x9 mm and a slightly increased clearance, offers stable operation under thermal loads.
The SKF 6002 /C3 deep groove ball bearing is an open, single-row radial ball bearing made from standard rolling-element steel (100Cr6). This rolling bearing is particularly suitable for designs in which predominantly radial forces act and lubricant is supplied from the outside. As it is manufactured in the Explorer design, the component has a dimensional accuracy of P6 and a running accuracy of P5. It enables precise guidance of the rotating shaft within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees Celsius.
The 6002 /C3 deep groove ball bearing is used in rotating shaft systems where predominantly radial loads occur and lubricant is supplied from within the housing. The open design, which has no abiding sealing elements, promotes low-friction operation and is suitable for applications involving higher speeds.
As there is no integrated seal, lubricating oil or grease reaches the rolling elements and raceways unhindered. The dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides the balls evenly along the raceway. This is suitable for installations with external seals and a central lubricant supply.
The /C3 designation indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This additional internal clearance between the balls and raceways helps to prevent the rolling elements from seizing if the shaft and rings heat up unevenly at operating temperature.
In conjunction with the tight manufacturing tolerances to dimensional accuracy P6 and running accuracy P5, concentricity is maintained even under the influence of temperature. As the bearing is of an open design, the bearing housing within the surrounding casing must be protected against contamination and lubricated.
The bore measures 15 mm, the outer diameter 32 mm and the width 9 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical, with no flange or ring groove. Before installation, you should adjust the shaft seat and the housing bore to these dimensions to ensure a precise fit.
The designation /C3 indicates a larger radial clearance than in the standard version. This additional internal clearance compensates for interference fits and thermal expansion that occur during operation as the shaft heats up. As a result, the rolling elements rotate freely and without mechanical stress, even under thermal load.
The open design does not require integrated cover or sealing washers and therefore produces a lower friction torque. It is suitable for installation locations where an external seal is in place and a continuous circulation of housing oil or grease supplies the raceways. Furthermore, this design simplifies visual inspection.
This model from the SKF Explorer range combines P6-class dimensional accuracy with P5-class running accuracy. As a result, the deviations in run-out and bore diameter are tighter than with standard bearings. This promotes smooth running of rotating shafts and reduces vibrations in the drivetrain.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. The rings and rolling elements are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), combined with a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage. When selecting lubricants, you should choose those that are approved for the intended operating temperature.
A sheet steel cage is fitted inside the bearing, which keeps the rolling elements at a uniform distance apart. This cage design is resistant to standard lubricants and can withstand operating temperatures of up to +150 degrees Celsius. It offers a balanced combination of low weight and strength for standard industrial applications.
