Compact single-row deep-groove ball bearing 626/C3 from SKF with a 6 mm bore, 19 mm outer diameter and slightly increased bearing clearance for demanding drive applications.
The 626/C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row miniature rolling bearing designed for compact installation spaces and small shaft diameters. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel, the bearing accommodates radial loads as well as axial forces in both directions. The SKF version features a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage that maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements. Thanks to its open design, lubricant flows unimpeded directly to the raceways via the surrounding housing system.
Design engineers use this miniature bearing primarily in compact drives, measuring instruments and precision mechanical devices. With dimensions of 6 mm inner diameter, 19 mm outer diameter and 6 mm width, it is suitable for slim housing mountings. The open design minimises frictional resistance, as there are no sealing lips to cause drag. This facilitates high rotational speeds, provided that a clean installation environment or a housing seal prevents the ingress of contaminants.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This clearance compensates for dimensional changes if the inner ring heats up more than the housing during operation. Furthermore, the additional radial clearance prevents tight fits on the shaft from causing stress in the rolling elements. Within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees, this ensures smooth and even running.
With an internal diameter of 6 mm, an external diameter of 19 mm and a width of 6 mm, the bearing has standardised key dimensions. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a groove. These dimensions allow for a precise fit in compact housings and are suitable for slender shafts.
The designation C3 indicates a defined, slightly increased radial clearance in the unloaded state. The internal radial clearance is greater than in the standard version. This clearance prevents the balls from becoming jammed in the event of temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, or when tight fits on the shaft and housing reduce the bearing clearance after installation.
As an open bearing, this variant does not require permanently fitted cover plates or sealing discs. This means there are no friction losses at the sealing lips, which facilitates high speeds and smooth start-up. Lubricant is supplied directly to the raceways from the outside. However, its use requires a clean operating environment or a design-integrated sealing solution via the machine housing.
The component is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. The components, made from standard roller bearing steel, and the temperature-resistant sheet steel cage provide thermal stability within this range. As no seals are fitted, the actual operational limit depends primarily on the lubricant selected.
A sheet steel cage maintains the spacing between the rolling elements, which are arranged in a single row. Sheet metal cages are characterised by their rigidity combined with low weight and promote the circulation of the lubricant. They are resistant to standard lubricants and remain mechanically stable across the entire permissible temperature range.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0/PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 rating. This level of manufacturing accuracy meets standard requirements in mechanical engineering and in precision mechanical equipment without any specific precision specifications.
