The SKF 61811 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing is a compact, thin-section bearing measuring 55 × 72 × 9 mm, featuring contact seals on both sides for space-saving designs.
The 61811 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing from SKF characterised by a narrow cross-section. With an inside diameter of 55 mm and an outside diameter of 72 mm, the width is 9 mm. This design is particularly suitable for applications with very limited radial installation space. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, the bearing withstands radial loads and is also suitable for handling moderate axial forces.
This thin-section bearing is used when, despite a relatively large shaft diameter, there is limited radial installation space available in the housing. Its narrow design reduces the weight of the entire bearing assembly compared to wider series. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements securely within the raceways. Design engineers and maintenance personnel use this bearing type for compact shaft mountings with moderate load capacities.
The designation -2RS1 refers to contact seals fitted on both sides. These contact seals protect the bearing interior against the ingress of dust, fine particles and splashing water. The bearing is designed for operation within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. Together with the standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, this design is suitable for standard fits in mechanical engineering.
The roller bearing has a bore of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 72 mm and a width of 9 mm. Due to this ratio of bore to outer diameter, it is classified as a thin-section bearing and requires very little radial installation space in the design.
The designation 2RS1 refers to sliding contact seals fitted on both sides. The sealing lips make direct contact with the inner ring. They help to keep out solid contaminants and moisture, and reduce lubricant loss during operation.
This model is designed for an operating range of -20 to +120 degrees. This range is determined by the material of the sealing lips and the standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. Within these limits, the seal and the steel retain their dimensional stability.
The component is manufactured with a standard radial bearing clearance. This standard bearing clearance is suitable for normal operating conditions, where neither significant temperature gradients between the inner and outer rings nor excessively tight fits reduce the operating clearance once the component is installed.
The sheet steel cage separates the rolling elements from one another and prevents them from coming into direct contact. In this way, it distributes the loads evenly across the raceway. Thanks to its low weight, it contributes to the lightweight overall design of the thin-section bearing.
The P0 tolerance class corresponds to the ABEC 1 standard tolerance. It defines the basic dimensional, geometric and running accuracies for industrial applications. This level of accuracy is sufficient for the vast majority of standard shaft and housing fits in mechanical engineering.
