The SKF 6308-Z deep groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 40x90x23 mm and a single-sided sheet metal cover, offers reliable protection for industrial radial applications.
The SKF 6308-Z single-row deep groove ball bearing is designed for predominantly radial loads as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. With a bore of 40 mm, an outside diameter of 90 mm and a width of 23 mm, the bearing has standardised main dimensions. The construction is made of standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) and operates within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements precisely.
The design is suitable for bearing locations where high radial forces are absorbed and one side of the housing needs to be protected from dirt particles, whilst the other side remains open for lubricant supply. This applies to rotating shafts in enclosed assemblies with a lubricating oil circulation system. As it is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), the bearing meets the basic requirements for dimensional accuracy in mechanical engineering.
The designation -Z stands for a non-abrasive cover plate made of profiled sheet metal on one side of the bearing. This shields the interior from coarse particles without generating friction or additional operating heat. The open opposite side allows unobstructed access of lubricant into the housing. Furthermore, the bearing has a standard radial clearance, which promotes smooth running under standard operating conditions.
This roller bearing has an inside diameter of 40 mm, an outside diameter of 90 mm and a width of 23 mm. Thanks to these dimensions, it is suitable for cylindrical bearing seats in mechanical engineering and can be used directly as a replacement for standard bearings of the same design in repairs or new constructions.
The suffix -Z indicates a single-sided cover consisting of a non-contacting cover plate made of sheet steel. It keeps dirt particles away from one side of the bearing without increasing friction. The opposite side remains open, allowing lubricants from the interior to reach the raceways unhindered.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance, which is intended for most standard applications without extreme temperature differences. The bearing clearance refers to the radial play between the rolling elements and the raceways prior to installation. It serves to compensate for geometric influences and operating heat within normal limits.
The permissible temperature range for this bearing is from -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. The 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel used and the dimensionally stable sheet steel cage retain their mechanical properties within this range, meaning that the bearing can be used both in cold environments and under moderate operating temperatures.
This model complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This classification meets the standard requirements for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy in general mechanical engineering. It ensures precise concentricity when used in conjunction with standard-manufactured mounting structures.
As a single-row deep-groove ball bearing, the design primarily absorbs radial forces, but also supports the shaft in both directions under axial loads. The deep grooves in the inner and outer rings distribute the forces evenly across the rolling elements, which are made from standard roller bearing steel.
