The SKF 6300 -2Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing combines compact dimensions of 10 × 35 × 11 mm with cover plates on both sides and increased radial clearance.
The 6300 -2Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a cylindrical bore for shafts with a diameter of 10 mm. The design is primarily intended to accommodate radial loads as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. Thanks to its design featuring non-contacting sheet metal end plates and a guided sheet steel cage, this rolling bearing operates with low friction and is suitable for standard operating speeds. The manufacturer, SKF, produces this component to tolerance class P0/PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 specification.
This design is suitable for mechanical assemblies with a shaft diameter of 10 mm, where compact dimensions and the ability to withstand combined forces are required. As the double-sided cover prevents dirt particles from entering the rolling element chamber directly, this design is particularly suitable for applications with moderate levels of contamination. Thanks to the smooth outer ring without a groove or flange, the bearing can be fitted as standard into cylindrical housing bores and secured axially using housing shoulders or retaining rings.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard clearance group. This variant is specifically used when noticeable temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation. If the shaft heats up more than the surrounding housing, the inner ring expands more. The additional radial clearance helps to prevent the rolling elements from becoming stressed. Furthermore, tight interference fits on the shaft and housing reduce the bearing clearance during press-fitting, which is compensated for by the increased C3 clearance.
This roller bearing has an inside diameter of 10 mm, an outside diameter of 35 mm and a width of 11 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in shape and has neither a ring groove nor a flange. Its geometry therefore complies with the standard dimensions for shafts with a diameter of 10 mm.
The designation -2Z refers to cover plates made of profiled sheet steel, fitted on both sides. These plates form a non-contacting gap with the inner ring. They keep larger dirt particles and foreign matter out of the bearing interior and retain the lubricant within the rolling element chamber without causing additional friction or increased heat generation at high speeds.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This clearance absorbs thermal expansion caused by heating during continuous operation and compensates for elastic deformation resulting from tight fits on the shaft or housing. This ensures that the rolling elements continue to run smoothly even under thermal stress.
The permissible operating temperature range specified for this bearing is from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. Within this temperature range, both the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability and mechanical strength. It is recommended for use in standard environments without extreme low-temperature or hot-air conditions.
Inside, a sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements. It ensures that the balls are evenly distributed along the raceway and maintains a constant distance between them. The sheet steel cage is lightweight, is resistant to common lubricants and is suitable for standard industrial operating temperatures.
The component is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. This tolerance class covers all standard requirements for running accuracy and dimensional stability in general mechanical and plant engineering. It enables the cost-effective manufacture of bearing seats on shafts and housings in accordance with standard specifications.
