SKF 627-2Z deep groove ball bearing (7x22x7 mm): A single-row rolling bearing with cover plates on both sides to protect against dirt particles, designed for compact installation spaces.
The SKF 627 -2Z deep groove ball bearing is a compact, single-row radial ball bearing for shafts with a 7 mm diameter. Manufactured from 100Cr6 bearing steel, this bearing primarily accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial loads in both directions. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly in the deep raceways. As part of the SKF Explorer range, the design is characterised by smooth running and low friction.
This miniature deep-groove ball bearing is typically used in smaller rotating assemblies with limited installation space. Typical applications include compact shaft mountings, precision mechanical designs and rotating components with limited radial installation space. Design engineers and maintenance technicians utilise the dimensions of 22 mm outer diameter and 7 mm width to create space-saving designs that operate at temperatures between –20 and +120 degrees.
The suffix ‘-2Z’ denotes non-contacting cover plates made from pressed sheet steel on both sides of the bearing. These gap seals shield the interior against the ingress of larger dirt particles and dust without generating additional frictional torque. This makes the bearing suitable for higher speeds with minimal heat build-up. The standard radial bearing clearance, in combination with tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), provides a balanced operating clearance for common fit conditions on shafts and housings.
With a bore of 7 mm, an outside diameter of 22 mm and a width of 7 mm, the bearing corresponds to metric size 627. These dimensions are suitable for compact shaft mountings in mechanical engineering and equipment manufacturing.
The designation -2Z refers to cover plates made of profiled sheet steel, fitted on both sides. They form a non-contact sealing gap with the inner ring, keeping out coarse particles and dirt whilst at the same time preventing friction losses caused by grinding during operation.
With this bearing, a standard radial bearing clearance provides the appropriate radial operating clearance for standard shaft and housing fits at normal operating temperatures, without the need for additional expansion allowances.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. The roller bearing steel, the sheet steel cage and the metal end plates are all specified for this temperature range in continuous industrial use.
Cover washers (-2Z) are made of metal and run past the inner ring without coming into contact with it, which minimises friction and heat build-up. Sealing washers with a rubber lip (such as 2RS) come into contact with the inner ring, which helps to keep out moisture but also generates additional frictional torque.
The model is manufactured to tolerance class P0, also known as standard tolerance PN or, in the Anglo-American region, as ABEC 1. This tolerance class fully meets the standard accuracy requirements in general mechanical engineering.
