The SKF 626-2Z deep groove ball bearing features compact dimensions of 6 × 19 × 6 mm and non-contacting cover plates for low-friction radial guidance.
The 626-2Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing from SKF in the Explorer series. With a bore of 6 mm, an outside diameter of 19 mm and a width of 6 mm, the component requires only minimal radial and axial installation space. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, this roller bearing primarily accommodates radial loads. Thanks to its standard radial clearance and factory tolerance class P0/PN, the bearing is suitable for standardised fits in general mechanical engineering and repair applications.
This miniature bearing is designed for applications with shaft diameters of 6 mm, where compact dimensions and low rotational resistance are required. Typical applications include precision mechanical devices, small drive units and measuring instruments. As the inner and outer rings, as well as the rolling elements, are made from standard rolling-bearing steel, the component can withstand radial loads within a temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees. The design, which has no groove or flange on the outer ring, allows for flush mounting in cylindrical housings.
The suffix -2Z denotes cover plates made from pressed sheet steel fitted on both sides. These shields form a fine, non-contacting gap to the inner ring and shield the rolling elements from solid particles. As there is no elastic sealing lip in contact with the rotating ring, no additional frictional heat is generated, thereby allowing high rotational speeds. The guided sheet steel cage ensures that the balls are evenly spaced. Whilst the gap seals do not provide hermetic protection against liquid media such as splash water, they do effectively keep out mechanical contaminants.
With a bore of 6 mm, an outside diameter of 19 mm and a width of 6 mm, this version is one of the compact miniature bearings. As the outer and inner rings are designed without a flange or ring groove, the roller bearing can be integrated flush into flat cylindrical fits.
The suffix -2Z denotes two sheet metal cover discs secured to both sides of the outer ring. These discs protect the interior from coarse dirt particles. As the gap to the inner ring shoulder is non-contacting, the component generates no additional friction torque and supports high rotational speeds.
This model features the standard radial bearing clearance, often referred to as ‘normal clearance’. This defined clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways compensates for moderate thermal expansion during operation. The design is intended for standard fits in housings and on shafts.
The permissible operating range is from -20 to +120 degrees. Within this range, both the standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability and mechanical properties. Special materials are required for applications outside this temperature range.
As a standard factory tolerance, tolerance class P0 (comparable to ABEC 1) defines the permissible dimensional and concentricity deviations. It forms the standard manufacturing specification for deep-groove ball bearings and enables repeatable mounting on shafts and in cylindrical bearing seats.
The rings and balls are manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, which offers high resistance to rolling wear. The design is complemented by a cage and sheet steel covers, which provide mechanical protection.
