The SKF 62304 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing combines dimensions of 20x52x21 mm with seals that seal on both sides, making it suitable for demanding industrial applications.
The single-row deep groove ball bearing 62304 -2RS1 accommodates radial loads as well as axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, this bearing type is characterised by a wider design of 21 mm compared with conventional bearings with the same bore diameter of 20 mm. The SKF version features a robust design with a sheet steel cage and is used in general mechanical engineering, drive technology and industrial maintenance.
This radial ball bearing is particularly suitable for applications involving combined loads and where there are increased requirements for component protection. Thanks to its wider design, the bearing offers additional stability in the housing seat when subjected to radial forces. Typical applications include rotating machine shafts, bearing positions in conveyor elements and general industrial drives. The double-sealed design retains the lubricant inside the bearing and protects the raceways against the ingress of dirt and moisture. The bearing is therefore designed for low-maintenance assemblies in continuous operation.
The seal, which makes contact on both sides, seals the interior containing the rolling elements against external contaminants. Compared with non-contact cover plates, sliding sealing lips provide effective protection against environmental influences, although they generate slightly higher friction during operation. The component covers an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius and operates with standard radial bearing clearance in tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1. This facilitates integration into standardised fits on precision shafts and housing bores.
The dimensions are 20 mm bore diameter (inner diameter), 52 mm outer diameter and 21 mm width. With this wide design, the outer ring provides an increased contact area within the housing, which enhances stability under radial loads.
The designation 2RS1 indicates a contact seal fitted on both sides. The sealing lip makes contact with the bearing and serves to prevent moisture and solid particles from entering the bearing and to retain the lubricant within the bearing.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. This temperature range meets the requirements of many industrial applications and complies with the specifications for this sealed standard roller bearing.
This model features standard radial bearing clearance (Class CN or PN). This means that the internal clearance between the balls and raceways is designed for typical fit conditions on cylindrical shafts and in standard housings, without causing excessive thermal expansion.
The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, which offers high fatigue strength and dimensional stability. A dimensionally stable cage made from sheet steel is used to guide and separate the row of balls.
The bearing complies with standard tolerance class P0 or normal tolerance PN, which is comparable to the ABEC 1 classification. This accuracy class is sufficient for the vast majority of industrial machinery applications and designs.
