The SKF 6215-2RS1 deep groove ball bearing has a 75 mm bore, an outer diameter of 130 mm and is protected against contamination by a ground seal on both sides.
The 6215-2RS1 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed primarily for radial loads, but it also accommodates axial loads in both directions. SKF manufactures the rings and rolling elements from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel and fits the bearing with a sheet steel cage. The seals, which seal on both sides, retain the grease within the system and repel solid contaminants and moisture. With the standardised tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, the bearing fits precisely into standard machine designs.
This radial ball bearing is used wherever shafts with a diameter of 75 mm need to be supported and combined radial and axial forces need to be accommodated. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees, thereby meeting the thermal requirements of common industrial operating environments. As the cylindrical outer ring has no groove or flange, the component can be press-fitted directly into flat housing bores.
The 2RS1 design features two sealing discs in contact with one another, whose sealing lips rest against the rotating inner ring under slight contact pressure. This design protects the rolling elements and raceways from the ingress of dust, dirt particles or moisture. Thanks to the factory-applied grease fill, the bearing operates with minimal maintenance over long periods, as no grease needs to be replenished. When designing the application, it should be noted that, due to friction, sliding contact seals allow for lower speeds compared to open bearings.
The main dimensions are 75 mm internal diameter, 130 mm external diameter and 25 mm width. These standardised dimensions determine the installation space required on the shaft and in the housing seat, and allow for the direct replacement of roller bearings of the same dimensions.
SKF uses the designation 2RS1 to refer to double-sided, contact-type sliding seals. The sealing lips rest against the inner ring shoulders with light pressure. This ensures that the grease remains inside the bearing and that the bearing is protected against dust and moisture.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. This clearance is designed for standard fits on the shaft and housing, as well as normal operating temperatures. After press-fitting, a defined operating clearance remains, which allows the rolling elements to roll freely.
The permissible operating range is from -20 to +120 degrees. This range is largely determined by the material of the sealing lips and the factory-applied grease filling. Within this temperature range, the sealing discs continue to function and the lubricating film remains stable.
Both the inner and outer rings, as well as the balls, are made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage is used to guide and space the rolling elements. This combination of materials offers strength and dimensional stability under normal industrial operating conditions.
No, double-sealed deep-groove ball bearings of this type are already filled with a specified amount of grease at the factory. The sealing lips retain the lubricant inside the bearing. It is not necessary to open the seals or add any further lubricant prior to assembly.
