The FAG 6213-C3 deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 65 × 120 × 23 mm and featuring increased bearing clearance, offers reliable running characteristics under thermal loads.
As a single-row rolling bearing, the 6213-C3 deep groove ball bearing primarily accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel 100Cr6, this model is characterised by dimensional stability and strength. The open design allows for targeted lubricant supply via the surrounding machine housing. With a bore of 65 mm, an outside diameter of 120 mm and a width of 23 mm, the geometry complies with common industry standards for medium-sized shafts.
This open ball bearing is typically used in bearing arrangements subject to combined radial and axial loads. As it is designed without integrated sealing washers, the component is suitable for enclosed assemblies in which oil or grease lubrication is supplied externally. The built-in sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements with low friction. Design engineers select this type when dealing with compact installation spaces featuring defined shaft diameters and varying radial forces.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance between the rolling elements and raceways compensates for thermal expansion that may occur at operating temperatures between –20 and +150 degrees. Tight fits on the shaft and housing also reduce the operating clearance after assembly. With tolerance class P0, the bearing offers a defined concentricity, whilst the absence of seals keeps friction losses to a minimum.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 65 mm for the shaft, an external diameter of 120 mm for the housing seat and a width of 23 mm. The single-row arrangement of the rolling elements ensures that the axial installation space remains compact, whilst the design is tailored to provide stable shaft support in mechanical and plant engineering.
As an open bearing, this model has no integrated cover or sealing washers. This design minimises frictional resistance and allows the bearing to be supplied with oil or grease directly via the housing’s lubrication circuit. It is recommended for use in clean environments or within enclosed systems that already feature an external seal.
An increased clearance of grade C3 reduces the risk of the rolling elements seizing up due to thermal expansion or tight fits. If the shaft or rings expand to different degrees during operation, the additional radial clearance ensures that the bearing continues to run smoothly. This is particularly relevant at elevated operating temperatures or where heat transfer is rapid.
The deep-groove ball bearing is designed for operation at temperatures ranging from -20 to +150 degrees. Its thermal resistance is based on its construction from 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel and the sheet steel cage. When designing the application, the lubricant used must be suitable for the same temperature range to ensure continuous lubrication.
The inner ring, outer ring and spherical rolling elements are manufactured from conventional standard 100Cr6 bearing steel. This bearing steel offers hardness as well as resistance to fatigue and wear under alternating loads. The tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 ensures reliable dimensional accuracy for standard industrial applications.
The cage, made of pressed sheet steel, keeps the balls at a uniform distance from one another and separates the rolling elements during rotation. This reduces friction and heat build-up in the rolling zone. At the same time, the open cage design allows externally supplied lubricant to reach the contact surfaces between the balls and the raceway unimpeded.
