The 6212-2RSR deep groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager protects the raceways with seals that seal on both sides, whilst offering compact dimensions of 60 × 110 × 22 mm.
The 6212-2RSR deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing made from standard rolling-element steel (100Cr6) with a 60 mm bore, 110 mm outer diameter and 22 mm width. This rolling bearing primarily absorbs radial forces and also supports shafts under axial loads in both directions. FAG Rolling Bearings manufactures this version with a sheet steel cage and standard radial clearance in tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1).
Designs featuring 60 mm shafts utilise the 6212 -2RSR deep groove ball bearing under combined loads in dusty or damp environmental conditions. The scraping seal lips keep dirt particles and splash water away from the raceways. The cylindrical outer ring, which has no groove, fits directly into suitable housing bores. The specified temperature range of –20 to +100 degrees allows for use in various thermal environments.
The designation -2RSR refers to contact seals mounted on both sides, made from elastic sealing material. These scraping sealing lips rest against the inner ring and keep dirt and moisture out of the bearing interior. At the same time, they minimise grease leakage, which often means that external sealing systems on the housing are no longer required. When designing the bearing, it must be borne in mind that, due to their design, sliding seals generate higher friction than non-contact cover plates.
The component has an internal bore of 60 mm, an external diameter of 110 mm and a total width of 22 mm. These dimensions allow for a precise fit when installed in suitable shaft seats and cylindrical housing bores.
The suffix -2RSR denotes contact seals fitted on both sides, with elastic, sliding sealing lips. These protect the rolling elements and raceways from the ingress of dust and moisture, and retain the lubricant inside the bearing.
The ball bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance. This standard is suitable for typical shaft-housing fits and moderate operating temperatures, as the operating clearance remains within the specified operating range after installation.
The permissible operating range is from -20 to +100 degrees. This temperature range takes into account the thermal resistance of the seal material and the grease, ensuring that the protective function of the seal lips is maintained within these limits.
The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage ensures the even guidance of the balls; its low weight helps to keep the inertia of the roller bearing to a minimum.
The roller bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to ABEC 1. This standard tolerance fully meets the accuracy requirements of general mechanical engineering and standardised electric drives.
