The SKF 6206 -2RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing is a double-sealed rolling bearing with dimensions of 30 × 62 × 16 mm and increased bearing clearance.
The 6206 -2RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a cylindrical bore. Fitted with seals that run against the bearing on both sides, the design protects the bearing interior from dirt and moisture and retains the factory-applied grease inside the bearing. Thanks to its compact main dimensions – with an inner diameter of 30 mm and an outer diameter of 62 mm – this design can handle radial forces as well as moderate axial forces in both directions.
Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering on rotating shafts. Design engineers use this variant primarily where ambient dust or splashing water is present and manual relubrication needs to be avoided. Thanks to its robust sheet steel cage and the permissible temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees Celsius, this rolling bearing is suitable for standard industrial operating conditions. The smooth outer ring without a groove facilitates standardised housing installation.
These suffixes denote specific functional characteristics for demanding installation conditions. The designation 2RS1 stands for two sealing lips that come into contact directly with the inner ring, forming an effective barrier. The designation C3 describes a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional internal clearance compensates for operational thermal expansion of the shaft or housing stresses in fixed fits, thereby preventing the rolling elements from becoming jammed.
This radial ball bearing has an inner diameter of 30 mm, an outer diameter of 62 mm and a width of 16 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical and has no retaining groove, which means the component fits into standardised bearing seats to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
The designation 2RS1 indicates that sliding sealing discs are fitted on both sides. These sealing lips are in contact with the contact surfaces of the inner ring. They help prevent lubricant from escaping whilst simultaneously reducing the ingress of dust, abrasives or moisture into the interior of the raceway.
An increased radial clearance of class C3 provides more internal clearance between the balls and raceways than a standard bearing. This prevents mechanical stress when the shaft heats up during operation or when tight fits during assembly cause the inner ring to expand.
The component is designed for an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. This limit is determined by the material properties of the standard roller bearing steel used, the integrated sheet steel cage and the sealing material of the abiding sealing discs.
Thanks to the double-sided mechanical seals, the bearing is filled with grease at the factory. Manual relubrication is neither intended nor necessary under normal operating conditions, as the sealing lips effectively limit lubricant loss and protect against external contamination.
